I've been leaked a letter from the Telegraph's new owners.
It's now mandatory for the Telegraph's journalists to support Israel.
And their new owner's record is deeply disturbing 👇

BRISMES Committee on Academic Freedom (CAF) Statement on the Targeting of Universities and Research Institutions in Iran
The Committee on Academic Freedom of the British Society for Middle Eastern Studies (BRISMES) expresses its unequivocal condemnation of the recent targeting of universities, schools and research institutions across Iran by the United States and Israel.
We call on the UK government to: - Urge respect for international humanitarian law and the protected status of educational institutions; - Demand an immediate end to attacks on universities, laboratories, and civilian infrastructure; - Demand an immediate end to the targeted killings of academics and researchers; - Call for independent investigations into these incidents and press for accountability where violations are found.
We also urge the international academic community and relevant international organisations, including scholarly associations, to speak out against these attacks and to take meaningful steps to defend academic freedom and the integrity of higher education worldwide. We stand in solidarity with university staff and students in Iran, Lebanon and Palestine as well as in all other conflict-affected areas. Read the statement in full: bit.ly/brismes-140426

The German government has decided to react to the fuel price increase with the usual tax cut / #Tankrabatt
This study shows, however, that less than 7% of the total relief provided this way goes to households in need www.springerprofessional.de/analyse-der-...
Iran, Pakistan, and at least some US officials all seem to have understood the ceasefire to apply to Israeli operations in Lebanon as well as Iran—even if this morning’s strikes were planned beforehand, going through with them seems like Israel thumbing its nose at/undermining the whole arrangement
There is no ceasefire in Lebanon. Israel has been bombing Lebanon non-stop since last night. If anything Israel is expanding its war on Lebanon.
You are being lied to
let's be clear about what's happening: donald trump and benjamin netanyahu, whose countries have been committing genocide in gaza since 2023, unilaterally started a war with iran, and are now threatening genocide there.
TONIGHT IN TEL AVIV: Ben Gvir’s police violently broke up an anti-war demonstration, arresting Standing Together co-director Alon-Lee Green & activist Nadav Oren.
No matter how much they try to silence us, we refuse to stop protesting against Netanyahu’s cynical forever war!

Paying $1 billion dollars to stop renewable energy development whilst simultaneously spending $1 billion/day to supercharge the price of oil and gas. Genius.
"Europe cannot be powerful if we adapt to the zeitgeist of ruthlessness. We can only be powerful if we stand up against this zeitgeist! ...We need to reinforce what has made us strong. The united Europe enjoys prosperity, peace, freedom and cultural influence because we show consideration."
time and time again, liberalism gives way to fascism. why does this happen? @jasonhickel.bsky.social explains:
"In total, the first two weeks of the conflict led to emissions of 5,055,016 tCO2e, equivalent to 131,430,416 tCO2e in a year"
And here's me, a vegan who's composting food with a worm farm, making my own clothes from vintage fabric and riding an e-bike 🫠

It's always been structural.
What Israel is doing to Southern Lebanon is *clearly* aimed at ethnic cleansing and colonization, using the same tactics as in the Gaza genocide. Nearly 1 million people forcibly displaced. We have to reject this evil with all our might, and support those who are resisting it.
1. One of the things I mention as a secondary issue in this week’s column is a lie so deeply embedded in official narratives that we seldom even notice it: capitalism = “free markets”. In reality, capitalism is *the opposite* of the free market.

News story tonight on driverless cars suggested that the point of the technology is to “make better cities.”
No it isn’t, and no it won’t.
The point of the technology is to sell more cars, and more cars have NEVER made better cities.
Israel is levelling down entire buildings in central Beirut
Atrocity. After atrocity. After atrocity.
NEW: Fossil fuel pollution and other toxic chemicals from the war in Iran will spread across the region and last for decades just as smoke from burning oil wells went as far as the Himalayas following the Gulf War 35 years ago

Iran is "now dead", declares Trump.
Gone are the pretences about saving the Iranian people.
My hypothesis?
Trump thought, after assassinating the Supreme Leader, grateful Iranians waving US and Israeli flags would install a pliant leader.
They didn't, so he's furious at them.
It turns out that relying on the sun and wind and stuff is better for the UK than relying on petrodictatorships
Who could have guessed
Never believe that budget cuts to social programs or education, or supporting the arts and science are about fiscal responsibility due to limited funds. They always find the money when they want to.
And this doesn't even include the cost of human lives, which is the real horror here.
a picture of a huge, low, heavy cloud of black oil over Tehran
This is the cloud of oil currently hovering over Tehran, released when the US bombed the city's oil depots. A stew of particulate matter, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, benzene, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, heavy metals & volatile organic compounds is raining down into the city right now. 1/2
