As to the idea that Disney traffis in made-up stories of fake people and pretend places, I note that the Louvre and the Met are filled with paintings of events that never happened and sculptures of things that never existed. We call that "art" and I'm not sure there's a difference. And if you think that stories are for children and adults should only concern themselves with that which is tangible and real, I say with sincerity: Do you know how money works? And so, as you embark on the journey of learning that this book promises, the question before us is not whether Disney is a worthwhile field of study. It's "Where do we start?"
