Forget "total cost of ownership." In the UK, the average EV is now cheaper than the average ICE vehicle, up front. Sticker cost.
And of course the savings just keep accumulating after that.
I can think of a lot of more accurate and less flattering terms for dudes who travel to other countries to trap foreign women in subservient relationships than “passport bros”
Loss of energy output in the Middle East due to the Iran War will take about two years to recover, according to the International Energy Agency.
"Rahmstorf, who has studied the Amoc for 35 years, has said a collapse must be avoided 'at all costs'. 'I argued this when we thought the chance of an Amoc shutdown was maybe 5%, and even then we were saying that risk is too high, given the massive impacts. Now it looks like it’s more than 50%.'"
Well, now everyone's going to be doing it.
He's 16 FFS. The Home Office knows that the chances are, as with most people piloting small boats, that he was forced into doing so by gangs. He should be having his asylum claim processed, not being prosecuted.

INBOX: Amid rising tendons between Trump and Pope Leo, the administration has abruptly canceled an $11 million contract with Catholic Charities to shelter and care for migrant children who enter the U.S. alone, ending a relationship dating back to the first arrivals of Cuban exiles in South Florida.
Note how he doesn't just define himself against an enemy but personifies the enemy by naming Ken Griffin and how much he paid for his penthouse.
This is how to create definition about what you stand for.
Happy Tax Day, New York. We’re taxing the rich.
NEW—I got an exclusive excerpt from a USAID whistleblower's new book that made me gasp multiple times. It details Trump's dismantling of the humanitarian aid agency & his team/DOGE's shocking ignorance to public health.
'Into the Wood Chipper' by Nicholas Enrich is out tomorrow. Read excerpt here:
"France will double state support to 10 billion euros ($12 billion) a year through to 2030 to help its switch to electricity from oil and gas and their derivative fuels [...] Measures including boosting the use of electric vehicles and modernising home heating..."
The deputy leader of Reform UK, Richard Tice, owns a property company - Quidnet REIT.
From 2020 to 2022 it paid Tice and his trust £600k in dividends. Quidnet should have paid £120k of tax on those dividends. It didn't.
A 🧵 with evidence from the company's own filings:
Cannot help but feel agrieved at this tbh, the govt refused to give people with disabilities a €400 emergency payment, even prior to attacks on Iran, where disabled persons groups outlined disabled ppl were choosing between heating and eating. #Spéirgorm #speirgorm
French Prime Minister announced a ban on installing gas heating systems "by year's end" in new buildings, including multi-unit housing, to curb dependence on fossil fuels.
Biz will get aid for electric vans and trucks, up to €100,000 – including cargo bikes.

I am really enjoying idea of Dolly as President and Robert Reich @rbreich.bsky.social as chief of staff. What a lovely combo. I hope there is still time.
Those stories about how white Americans chose to shut down their public swimming pools & fill them with cement rather than let Black people swim in them are perfect metaphors for what’s happening to the whole country right now.
From Roger Scruton cafes to paying Matt Goodwin $10k a month, Viktor Orban has built a network of populist right think tanks, journalists and activists

10-20% of the emissions ceiling of Ireland's energy sector to be used by ONE data centre in Ennis.
Insanity.

It definitely feels pretty fucking worrying that Trump openly threatened to enact a massive, potentially nuclear genocide and erase an entire civilisation and there hasn't been a loud, unending and universal chorus of unequivocal condemnation and resistance from western leaders
Impossible to disagree with a single word that Ben Rhodes (Obama era NSC official) is saying here:
“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.”
These are the words of the president of the United States, today.
The president speaks genocide. And so we too must speak. Not only about crimes, but about their legal punishment.

You know what this decade in our species’ history will be remembered for?
Dead children. Thousands of dead children in Ukraine, Palestine, Iran, Sudan, Syria, Lebanon and more.
Children, bombed, blown up & shot on the orders of political leaders for their own revolting ends.
A disgusting decade.
I’ve said it before, but sometimes the pundit class sabotages itself via its own addiction to nuance. It’s hard to write a novel and interesting thinkpiece at this point on the premise that Trump is just a deranged narcissist gangster, even though (and indeed, because) that’s just obviously true.
Do you support pro-solar policy? 90% say yes.
What percentage of other people support this pro-solar policy? Average estimate: 58.6%
Up-front cash for heat pumps? 80% support?
What percentage of other people support heat pumps? Average estimate: 46.8%
Incredible perception gap.
Today the two-child limit is gone. Parents have told us what this will mean for their kids:
- A first-ever birthday party for a 10-year-old
- Better quality food
- Clothes that aren't completely worn out
- Going on the school trip without getting into debt
- A new mattress
- Swimming lessons
"Matthew Goodwin has been paid a salary of up to €10,000 a month [from Hungary's state-funded MCC], according to leaked documents obtained by Hungarian investigative journalists Direkt36 and reported by the Good Law Project"
That could all end if Orbán loses...

“We’d welcome a crackdown on illegitimate use of badges to safeguard the deserving users.”
Staggering the AA put this out there on Blue Badge use. Talk about fraud if that’s an evidenced issue, sure, but “deserving” rhetoric in current climate is just dangerous. www.theguardian.com/money/2026/a...
