I'm horrified by the reports of an attack on the Jewish community at Heaton Park synagogue, on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. My thoughts are with the victims and their families, and all those affected by this horrific attack.

We are horrified by the appalling attack outside a synagogue in Manchester today, on the holiest day of the Jewish year. Our solidarity are with the victims, their families and the Jewish community.

Antisemitism has no place in our society. It must be confronted and defeated.

Labour must be a beacon not a weathervane – neither national nor human security is advanced by jeopardising the world’s poorest, nor making things harder for its most fragile states.

There is neither a moral nor an economic case for these reforms. Cutting PIP will not lower costs for taxpayers, will not improve employment rates, and will not address the genuine issues within the system.
