Packers GM Brian Gutekunst on Zach Tom:
"He did (have surgery), and he's doing well. Zach's a good player. ... Fortunate for him, he'll be ready to roll as we get going."
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst on plan for cornerback position:
"We're going to add numbers there."
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst on possibly landing a 2027 third-round comp pick for Malik Willis:
"A lot of that will depend on how his season goes and how he plays. There's some different things in there. โฆ We're hopeful that the Dolphins play him and he plays a lot and plays well."
"... The situation we were in with the amount of players in that room, what we're probably going to do in the future, him being in the last year of his contract, it just made a little bit of sense."

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst on Dontayvion Wicks trade:
"It's always tough to move off of a player that you feel is as good as Dontayvion was for us. ..."

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst on team's receiver depth:
"I feel really good about it. Excited about the opportunities that some of these guys are going to get."
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst on Lukas Van Ness' fifth-year option:
"We're working through that. I think it's May 1 that we got to do that. We'll do that at the appropriate time."
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst adds the following about nose tackle:
"I do think there's probably a little bit more appetite for a pure nose, because some of the snaps we're going to play are going to have that. Maybe we wouldn't have had that with Jeff (Hafley)."
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst on if Javon Hargrave can play nose tackle:
"I think he can do that. I think he's really versatile. He's one of those guys who can play up and down the line along with [Devonte Wyatt]. Those guys are going to play a lot of snaps for us, God willing."
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst on if team has necessary ammunition to trade up from pick No. 52:
"I think we do. We're sitting there with eight picks right now. ... I do feel like, if the right player were there, that we would be able to go get him."
"... Certainly, at times, when you have players rated equally, sometimes positional need may factor in, but I try to fight against that as much as possible."
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst on weighing need vs. BPA:
"I'm always trying to do my very best to take the best player available. I very much believe as we build our board that, subconsciously, our needs are factored in. ..."

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst on how not having a first-round pick affected the draft process:
"It really hasn't been a ton different. Our process stays the same. I would say there's probably a little bit allocation of time to some things. Maybe how we chopped up our 30 visits."
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst opens his presser by thanking "everyone in the organization" who work on the draft.
"It's a big process, we're excited, and we're ready."
Brian Gutekunst's pre-draft press conference begins at the top of the hour.
For those keeping track, this will mark the second time since Feb. 4 that the Packers GM will have spoken with the media. Jonathan Gannon, whom the team hired on Feb. 2, has yet to have a single presser.
John Lynch used to erroneously say "force is mass times velocity" on broadcasts, so AI probably would seem revelatory to him.
The Packers officially signed exclusive-rights free agents OL Donovan Jennings and CB/WR Bo Melton.
The team also received a roster exemption for DT Dante Barnett (international player).
In just a few minutes, I'm jumping on ESPN La Crosse to talk about the Packers and the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Dexter Lawrence trade sent shockwaves through the NFL. It also reinforced the perception that the league doesn't love the top of the 2026 draft class.

The Rams have, let's say, gotten creative with Matthew Stafford's contract in the past, so a new extension could get pretty weird on paper even if the real terms are fairly straightforward in practice.
Relying on a rookie to start at nose tackle is always a gamble, and there doesn't appear to be a ton of great options in the 2026 draft class.
Still, in the estimation of some D-line coaches, there are a few rookies who could make it work this year.

Dexter Lawrence landing a one-year, $28M extension from the Bengals is less than he reportedly wanted ($30M-$35M annually), but it's still more than most teams would have been comfortable giving a defensive tackle coming off a multiyear decline in pass-rush production.

Consistent!
I'm not sure, but nobody would be surprised if he said that.
