No no it’s fine we just go to the therapy store and get the fix it button. and Im sure “fixing it” has never had horrifying outcomes either

and sure, maybe you can’t know exactly what type of therapy work would help you most before going into it, but “just go to therapy” rarely mentions the (sometimes drastic) differences in modalities and subsequent efficacy those modalities may or may not have for any given individual.

“Just go to therapy” forgets you could find a therapist that leaves you in the same state you started in… or worse. how can you expect to do vulnerable internal work if you’re unsure how much you have to defend yourself from the therapist you’re paying for?
