🌈 What's COMING OUT (pun intended) this October? Which books are you excited for? Which books are you adding to your TBR? Any other queer releases you know of? 🧵

An image of 31 Rainbow Crate books. The books are arranged in five rows, with the books slightly alternating where they line up. All book covers face the camera, the books near the edges of the image are more cut off. Text along the bottom reads “Last Chance Sale” in white font with a red outline.

🌈 Hey Reading Rainbows, we are working on clearing older inventory from our packing center, which means it’s time for a SALE! Get up to 40% off select past books and 20% off select past boxes! Quantities are limited and once they’re sold out, they’re gone! 🧵

Assuming all fanfiction is written poorly really just shows you've never been caught in the chokehold of a 150k slowburn that changed the course of your life at 2:40am written by someone whose username has 4 Zs in it and they only wrote one fic and then vanished like an ethereal legend.

Wow! What the what?!? Talk about missing your own party. In my defense I was out of the country for 2 weeks. But what a great welcoming gift to stumble across my first day on this app. Latest acceptance speech ever! But thanks everyone and congrats to all the nominees and winners! #Ignytes2024

One year since @georgiatennant.bsky.social & David Tennant broke my website by wearing my pins all over TV. Thousands of orders instantly flooded in.

Sarah McBride just giving up already is so bleak. Crushingly disappointing. I guess I take back what I said 😞

Jfc cis people, we really fucking need you on this one. Barring people from accessing bathroom facilities is barring people from public life, and if they succeed here they’re going to move on to barring them from every other possible place.

Call your reps please.

Whenever we make ourselves smaller for them, they just shrink our box again.

Well said! Every attack on trans people is an effort to both:
- manufacture rage for distraction/fundraising purposes
- drive trans people out of public life

And the logistics of the policies always boil down to Republicans making cis women less safe while simultaneously blaming trans people.

No matter where you are in your trans-ness, if you are feeling despair, I cannot recommend enough engaging with the writings and histories of our elders who lived our lives before the 21st Century. It is both not as dark as you think and tougher than you think. And it will give you something.

There's something I need people to understand.

The studio that made this released some numbers. They had to produce 85 minutes of footage to find 15 usable seconds for this ad.

The machine that creates moving images out of nothing has a failure rate of 340:1 and the best 15 seconds... is this.

And this is why authors are always asking you to preorder.

Write that book. Send that story. Query that agent. Ask for that blurb. Maybe it doesn’t work out, but there’s a chance it will, and that chance—however small you think it is—is all you need.

Cute animals and yokai huddled underneath themed kotatsus. A kotatsu is a heated, quilted table that originated in Japan. From left to right, top down, the first critter is a kitsune. The kitsune is white with red markings on it's cheeks, tail, and ears. It is underneath a kotatsu with a red blanket that has torii gates on it. The second critter is a tanuki, the tanuki has a leaf on it's head and is underneath a kotatsu with a light green blanket with dark green leaves on it. The third critter is a nekomata, nekomata are Japanese yokai that have 2 tails. It's underneath a kotatsu with a yellow blanket with blue fish on it. Starting on the second row is a red panda, the red panda dons a green bandana around his neck. The red panda is underneath a kotatsu with a light green blanket and bamboo on it. The fifth critter is a Kappa, the Kappa is underneath a kotatsu with a yellow blanket covered in pickles. The sixth critter is an Inu Hariko. It's underneath a kotatsu with a dark blue blanket with a starry patterned design. Starting on the third row is a capybara, the capybara has an orange on his head. The capybara is underneath an kotatsu with an orange blanket, with oranges on it. The final critter is a tengu. The tengu is bright red, with a black tokin and bright purple beads around his neck. He is under a kotasu with a purple windy leaf patterned blanket. They're all very cozy, some have their tails sticking out the back of the kotatsu as if they barely fit underneath. Their paws (or wings, or fins) stick out of the front by their faces while their bodies are completely covered by the kotatsu. Hopefully this paints a warm quaint image in your mind!

Some genuinely terrible people whining about the "block culture" here on Bluesky is how you know the block culture is working, keep blocking those genuinely terrible people, folks, soon the only people they'll be able to bother here is each other

Reminder: This website does not have an algorithm, reposting yourself several times so that people in different time zones can see your posts is encouraged and the norm. It is totally fine to boost your own stuff here. Anyone who tries to make you feel weird about it- does not understand Bluesky. ✨
