The cover of JITTERBUG by Gareth L Powell features a stylised rocket silhouette at the centre of an orrery, with a space suited figure dangling in its wake
The cover of WHO WILL YOU SAVE? by Gareth L Powell. It shows a figure on an alien landscape reaching up to a figure standing on an upside down reflection of the landscape above.

The cover for the book, Jitterbug, by Gareth L. Powell, which shows a black rocket silhouette against a red background with concentric white circles extending out from it and the outlines of planets in white following those circles. Behind the rocket, a black triangle extends outwards with an astronaut on a line seemingly dangling from the rocket just above the book title at the bottom.
I thoroughly enjoyed @garethlpowell.bsky.social's latest book, Jitterbug. I wasn't sure how it was going to end even halfway through. It's well paced with an exciting universe and characters who fit well within it, and the twist at the end was mind-blowing! Highly recommend it!

Audiences are drowning in so many options now they'll basically take any reason to dismiss your work. Using AI is a rocketship straight to the dumpster.

Jitterbug has been out a month now, and it's been attracting some great reviews. And given the current interest in the Artemis II mission, I should probably mention that the story's partly set on the moon!

Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown Iran S04 E06
Dailymotion video by L3arnTV
If you’re an American should watch the Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown ep on Iran. A deeply humanizing look at a country full of people just like you and me. I watched it after Anthony died and it moved in ways that are hard to relay. I also immediately ran out to try kabob koobideh and tahdig.

So, the technology to deal with the technology is still progressing, as is our (publishers' and agents') response to it all.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk. (5/5)

I understand the debate about programs that determine AI use. The best I know of is 98% accurate, which still presents a 2% chance of being inaccurate. On the other hand, there needs to be some determination, just as there always has with classroom plagiarism. (4/5)

If anyone can take from your work (because it's already taken from the work of others), then publishers can't protect their investments and so, no, won't take a chance on your work. And contracts are legal documents, so lying about use of AI is NOT advisable. (Not that lying ever is.) (3/5)

3) AI-written works do not qualify for copyright protection. See article Generative Artificial Intelligence and Copyright Law | Congress.gov | Library of Congress – “...U.S. courts to date have not recognized copyright in works that lack a human author…” (2/5)

I’ve said it before but will say it again: “writing with AI” is not a valid strategy. 1) you’re standing on the backs of others whose work was plagiarized for that purpose, 2) you’re not putting in the work and not bringing anything truly unique into the world (1/5)
