Why Bonjourr for Safari is leaving the App Store Bonjourr · Minimalist startpage published a post on Ko-fi

Bad news everyone! The App Store version of Bonjourr will be discontinued. We've come to the realization that it's not sustainable for us because of its complexity and costs.

Safari users will have to switch to the online version eventually.

So it doesn’t go away after a page refresh? If not, could you send your settings file to bonjour.app@proton.me? So we can check out where the bug is coming from. Thank you

Can you send a screenshot? We’re already aware of a similar bug but it only appears when you change the am/pm options, then goes normal after a page refresh

Good catch! Thank you, we'll be fixing it soon

Thank you!! We will likely be pushing it to the extension stores in about a week, just to give it some time for people to beta test it

We'll be needing your help over the next few days: we're launching a small scale beta testing program to iron out the potential issues of the update.

If you’d like to give us a hand, please read this: www.notion.so/morceaudeboi...

That's a great idea :) I think we had tried to implement it a while ago, but ended up not doing it because it was more challenging than anticipated. We'll keep it in mind though and will try again eventually!

I spent a considerable amount of time yesterday the eyes glued to my screen to _finally_ fix the border-radius on link icons in Bonjourr. Looks so much better now!

I'm really excited about this update 🔥

Our next update is well on its way to release, with a brand new pomodoro widget and some nice quality of life improvements. Expect it before the end of the year :)

Thanks for your reply :) Yeah I think we might just be overthinking it, I'm sure we'll start appreciating the new look with time.

Coming up with our own UI look is probably what we'd do if we were to start over, but the iOS inspiration is too much ingrained in Bonjourr's DNA to get rid of it by now

Bonjourr's current settings (left), Bonjourr's potential redesigned settings inspired by iOS 26 (right)

Question to y'all who use iOS 26: do you feel like Bonjourr's current settings UI now looks dated, as it's inspired by the appearance of previous iOS versions?

We still haven't gotten to really like iOS 26's redesigned settings, so we're hesitant on pushing it to Bonjourr. What do you guys think?

Awesome, thank you!

Are you able to send us your exported settings file (bonjourr.app@protonmail.com)? I don’t think we’ll be able to get your data back unfortunately, but it might give us some clues as to why it happened in your particular case.

This sucks, I’m sorry. This has been a recurring issue of ours for a few versions now since we made some major changes in how we store data. We took measures to make things better, but we haven’t fully cracked the problem yet.

Are you talking about 21.2? Or the update from a few weeks ago?

🐛 You might experience a small bug in the latest Bonjourr versions where the background is stuck in low quality and the blur slider doesn't work.

We're taking measures to fix it in the next version, but you can easily fix it yourself: simply move the brightness slider to make things normal again :)

Exactly yeah. And by definition, AI images are (and feel) soulless. This isn't really a vibe we enjoy or want to be associated with

We recently hit 300k users and 20k reviews on Chrome. This is huge! Thank you all so much 🤗

This is actually a bug with the 21.1 version! We'll be issuing a fix in the next few days with 21.2. Thanks for reporting it

To be clear, although we're not really comfortable with it for now, we aren't entirely opposed to having LLM-based features in Bonjourr (never say never). We think in the right situation, they can be great tools.

It would have to make sense though, and not be "in your face" the way it usually is.

How would you guys feel about us taking a No-AI stance in the way we promote Bonjourr? Mainly no AI photos or videos in our background selections.

Might be a good way to spread awareness about where the tech industry is going, and what it means for artists who used to make a living from their work.

We've had multiple users get in touch because they couldn't find the button to download backgrounds anymore. Well, it's our fault, since it's been moved!

Hover at the bottom of Bonjourr and you’ll see it in the new background options.

Experimenting with the new iOS 26 styling, it still needs some polish and not sure yet if we'll stick with it, but I like how much more "playful" it looks with the added color and roundness of it all. What do you guys think?

In the latest Chrome version, Google has introduced a new feature that adds a bar at the bottom of custom new tab pages, including Bonjourr.

This can easily be disabled by right clicking on it and selecting "Hide footer on the New tab page".
