Lana Del Rey has done so many theme songs for nonexistent James Bond movies, it's nice that she finally got to do a (sort of) real one. open.spotify.com/album/2uPAqo...

Why is it that the most vocal cheerleaders of generative A.I. are always the hackiest motherfreakers around? You expect studio executives to say things like “it’s going to revolutionize content,” and “from a bottom-line standpoint it’s inevitable,” and “I’ve finally found an instrument as cold and empty as myself,” but you’d hope that an artist would have more self-respect.

of course you CAN use AI to "write" your book but you run the risk of a lethally derisive colson whitehead materializing in your office to call you a hacky motherfreaker

Saw one of these things for the first time yesterday. Another stupid thing clogging up the streets of Austin, where they still won't build the light rail we voted for years ago.

In the age of generative AI and would-be AI detectives, I'm glad I still write my drafts in longhand in bars and coffee shops. Despite the looks I often get.

Catching up on the later seasons of PEAKY BLINDERS I never watched at the time. Impressed with Tom Hardy's commitment to having his character's skin deteriorate further every season.

Austin leaders want to rename Cesar Chavez Street in wake of abuse allegations The road was named in Cesar Chavez's honor in 1993, not long after he died. But allegations of sexual abuse against Chavez have sparked a push for city leaders to change the street's name.

Zevon, The Envoy (1982)

The kind of album where Lindsey Buckingham sings cokey backing vox on a song co-written by Thomas McGuane, and Jeff Porcaro is credited with playing "Tahitian log drums." The title track, about a US envoy charged with putting out fires in the Middle East, now feels like it's from a parallel earth
