After two days on strike, nearly 1,000 faculty at NYU won huge concessions from the university.
Everyone in the CFU-UAW union will now get a raise of at least $14,000.
The deal also includes 3.5% raises each year of the contract, better job security, and more.

CHIEF JUSTICE TODD OPINION No. 3 WAP 2024 Appeal from the Order of the Superior Court entered June 13, 2023, at No. 1008 WDA 2021, Affirming the Order of the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County entered December 19, 2016, at No. CP-02-CR-0016878-2014. : : : : : : : : : : : ARGUED: October 8, 2024 DECIDED: MARCH 26, 2026 In this appeal by allowance, we granted allocatur to consider whether a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for a felony murder conviction violates the Eighth Amendment to the United States Constitution or Article I, Section 13 of the Pennsylvania Constitution.1 For the reasons that follow, we determine that a mandatory life without parole sentence for all felony murder convictions, absent an assessment of culpability, is inconsistent with the protections bestowed upon our citizens
under the “cruel punishments” clause of our Commonwealth’s organic charter.2 Thus, we reverse the order of the Superior Court, vacate Appellant’s judgment of sentence, and remand for resentencing. However, as we have done under similar circumstances, we stay our order for 120 days to provide a reasonable amount of time for the General Assembly to consider remedial measures.
BREAKING: The PA Supreme Court holds that mandatory life without parole sentences for all "felony murder" convictions -- a sentence more than 1,000 people in PA are serving -- violates the state constitution's "cruel" punishment ban. This is GROUNDBREAKING: www.pacourts.us/assets/opini...
I know I don't have to tell any of you here that ICE is deployed at the airports because he wants everyone to know that they are his personal police force and that he will deploy them anywhere at will.
As ICE apprehends more children every day, it raises a simple question that’s also one of grave moral concern: What does detention do to a child’s health?
"I see a regression of developmental milestones. They don’t want to eat. They have problems sleeping. They wake up screaming,” one doctor said.

People shouldn't feel bad about previously admiring someone when they didn't know about the terrible harms that person committed, but we should challenge ourselves to consider how pedestalizing and prioritizing the legacies of charismatic leaders can create harmful dynamics. That can be addressed.
movements aren't separate from society. they are part of society. every social problem in society will be found in movements.
When you think you're a liberator of your people and you're also sexually abusing women and girls from among those people you're demonstrating that you have trouble recognizing them as people. (And that is way too common.)
Civil Rights Icon, Dolores Huerta, Concealed Two Children After Cesar Chavez Raped Her
Civil Rights icon, @doloreshuerta, made a brave move today, revealing a secret she had been holding for 60 years for the sake of the Farm Workers movement.

The news about Cesar Chavez is devastating but also shows us the pitfalls of single issue organizing. He was a powerful labor organizer but as we have now learned he was also a sexual abuser, Zionist, anti-communist, and virulently anti-immigrant.

The Abusable Past published a microsyllabus on Radical Iranian Theory and Praxis last year that seems more relevant than ever. Please check it out and share widely: abusablepast.org/radical-iran...
Essential reading. "We in the U.S. need to reckon with the fact that so much of our state wealth, capacity, and technology goes toward burying children in rubble."
People really struggling with the idea that the Iranian government sucks but we shouldn't be bombing them can both be true, eh?
Submitted. Dropping January 2027. In the meantime, 🚫🧊
it sure is a choice to look at a political landscape in which the government is actively attempting to erase trans people from existence and publish a Singal victory lap in furtherance of that goal
The BAFTAs had poor Alan Cumming up there like, sometimes ✨🌈diversity✨🌈 is offensive 🙄
I’m sorry but not censoring a white man repeatedly shouting the n-word at two Black actors presenting an award because he has Tourette’s but censoring someone accepting an award saying “Free Palestine” is peak white liberal brainrot.

The uber leftist critiques of Bad Bunny noting that it’s not liberation are so annoying. Like, no one said all that, bro. People saying that there were political elements that are important to acknowledge is not the same as saying Bad Bunny will free us. Don’t be foolish.
Thank you for sharing!

After executing Alex Pretti on Saturday, ICE has shifted to primarily targeting bus stops and elementary schools in my community this week. I cannot overstate how much of the ICE activity in my community is just targeting places where little kids are.
DHS has shot 12 people during immigration enforcement operations since September:
No wishy washy passive voice here. TMZ literally more accurate than the majority of mainstream news outlets.
We all just saw about six different angles of ICE murdering a guy who himself was filming them, but sure, you think body cameras will make all the difference.
How stupid do they think we are?
