Take advantage of the nice weather by clearing dry grass, and clearing dead or dying vegetation.
⚠️Derailment cont: Approx 20 to 25 box cars derailed. No hazardous spills, no injuries reported. Expect significant delays on I-80 eastbound.
Crews remain on scene to support scene safety, monitor conditions, assist with securing the area while railroad officials investigate.
⚠️Just before 7am this morning, #TMFR and Storey County Fire responded to a reported train derailment near USA Parkway and I-80. First-arriving units conducted a thorough size-up and coordinated with rail personnel to assess the situation.
It only takes one spark to put our community at risk. Let’s do our part to keep our region safe. 🔥🚫
With already dry conditions and early signs of wildfire risk, we could see an increased number of Red Flag Warning days this year.
Now is the time to stay vigilant. Avoid outdoor activities that could spark a fire, secure trailer chains, and follow all local fire restrictions when in effect.
