Would it be too much to ask for meaningful bro comradery & reckoning with battlefield depression? Maybe less slapstick comedy & lean into wry parody? Would love if Cole & Baird were more than just comic relief, 'cause I want more of my lad's backstories too. Also: justice for the Carmine fam! 💪⚙️

Probs says a lot about me that I am overly invested in yet another post-apocalyptic grimdark with many sad-but-stronk space marines in power armour... but I kinda want this to be done justice and not become just another straight-to-netflix flashy CGI throw-away?...
It appears Cody Rhodes has obtained his final form, which is quite clearly... The Emperor of Mankind. 🤼♂️
Oooft Grado, I know ya like the limelight, man... but this ain't the way. Promoing with politicians is mortifying. SMH.
Today marks the 44th anniversary of the single most sanity-warping print error ever committed to print.
The gnawing, eldritch, Lovecraftian horror of this Peterborough Standard society page from April 18, 1980.
Theremony at tremony at the liremony indeed.
Ah, so maybe to an extent Brits being unwilling to fork out for a separate tumbling machine/not bothered to just shake mixes together by hand/fed-up of cleaning & maintaining caramelised drums. It is a shame, but having worked with cantankerous slushie machines in Blockbuster before, I do get it.
Yeah, sweet or a combo of sweet & salted popcorn is the default. Dunno why sugar should have to go into a machine if popcorn is freshly done though? Surely the salt & sugar syrup gets added once the popcorn pops and then shaken up/mixed in a container?
Force the government to rip up the EHRC’s transphobic guidance. Currently there is not adequate time for MPs or the public to review the amended guidance before it passes. With less than a month, please request action from your MPs. Join us: goodlaw.social/de78a7
Yeah, movie popcorn has almost always been underwhelming here. I suppose most places have to opt for pre-popped & reheated simply to meet demand. Plus, unlike the States, our farming economy is not corn-proliferated, so there's the scarcity/overpricing aspect. Does very much detract from the vibe.
This is a long, excellent thread on the current AI grift.
It also touches on one of my pet peeves: By using terms such as "hallucinations" for results that are factually incorrect, the AI generators are given agency that they do not & will never have.
Yeah, GFT is actually notable for not being cursed by popcorn getting spilled and ground into their carpets between screenings... it actually rocks... so it does seem an odd marketing choice to remind folks of something they can't have right before the movie?
We made a mistake. That's on us. We really dropped the ball on this one. We are hearing and learning.
Hilarious how this particular post is, in fact, refusing to load all comments right now. Bluesky really dropping the ball by acting all oblivious to their website code's AI slopification.
I Tolkienize men.
Men, kiss each other on the forehead. Cry. Say things like "Be at peace Son of Gondor" and "My Friends, you bow to no one." Hug more. Write poetry. Sing songs in quiet moments. Go on big long walks. Have adventures. Be a little in love with each other secretly. Eat lembas.
Every generation needs its Galaxy Quest: a movie that, despite every individual element screaming that it can't be good, is actually good
Ah, the ironic high-camp of chronically-online chuds... what greatness could be, if only they could see the potential! Though I am slightly confused as to why they keep going on about Pumpkin Spice Latte?
The more I read about why plesiosaurs aren't dinosaurs, the more it feels like everyone is making everything up.
Plesiosaurs are my favorite SOMETHING. I'll find out what that thing is some day.
💯 THIS! Unacceptable that plesiosaurs are not considered dinos! I feel that just because they aren't bird-kin lizards, doesn't mean they aren't part of what the vast majority of folks would consider dinosaurs. *grumps about this*
Oh. Bleh. AI bot. Nah, that's gonna be a block from me. Stop scraping other folks writing & research techniques. 😑😑😑😑😑😑
With historic pieces it's mostly the place or incident that comes first, followed by deep-diving the people & families associated with it (which can be fascinating, but also inevitably sad... plus sometimes quite delicate when it comes to death, mental health & identity in a past era).
Opens slush pile.

Screams.
Closes computer.
Screams again.
Runs off into the woods.
Sees squirrel.
Hmmm... Squirrels have never submitted a generated story.
Squirrel gets treat.
Fave horror novelists are probs Stephen Graham Jones, T.Kingfisher, & Andrew Joseph White. Marjorie M.Liu rocks my world of comics; & I'm super-hyped for Ryan Coogler bringing back 'The X-Flies' after his success with 'Sinners'. My cult classic recs're Ray Bradbury & John Wyndham. #HorrorWritersChat
I both work in the heritage sector & am a dab hand at investigating genealogy. I tend to fall down deep research holes so I can evoke the correct sense of place/time for my setting. I often agonise over characterisation; especially when writing people who actually existed. #HorrorWritersChat
You'll usually find some elements of horror in my other writing, but I do write some less-gritty sci-fi or sci-fantasy fiction, which almost always have some element of intense relationship or eroticism. I also scribe eclectic blogs & film criticism over on www.lillostkitten.com. #HorrorWritersChat
Falicitations! I'm G.B.Bard, writer of urban supernatural gothic/queer erotic gore/gritty post-apocalyptic/historic mythos tales. Currently reading Alix E. Harrow's 'The Everlasting'; marathoning 'ER'; & alternately playing Fallout 4/ watching my flatmate play Super Mario Wonder.

Can confirm, it's a screencap from S3 of Reacher. Really odd pause/filter moment does make it look a tad uncanny, but it's from a russian roulette moment.
Using LLMs are extremely like using ouija boards for everything from writing your homework or novels or police reports or motions to object to police reports, except they're even worse because instead of asking ghosts you're asking 4chan & Reddit posters from 10 years ago
I love libraries - the create new light - Lavender Menace - the Lavender Menace Archive is a history but also important to the present and future - please support if you can

An absolute classic (especially amongst me and my bunch of fantasy geek pals - probably one of the first proper ones to break online containment and enter the more normie friend group). To think that the movies themselves came a good bit before this too... *le sigh*.
