In one of my trips overseas, a major city was almost completely devoid of players, because of mass reporting the others were maybe spoofing. This is before Overclock. Obviously most players there did not.
But there was no way for Niantic to determine that they were not spoofers.

Even bringing back @alexstamm.bsky.social to help being the code to the modern version of the NSSDK.

Without a closed loop method, it just becomes one's word.

We have seen in the past some that claim to be not spoofers, were spoofers, but that was a long time ago.

Doing an Overclock proves that you were likely really there.
