An in drawing depicting a nearly unclothed androgynous young man sitting on a rock at the lake. He's looking up into the starry sky that is reflected in the water, in a backdrop of trees and mountains.
Yasuo detoxing on a rock in a lake. He gazes upon the night sky, for that is his mental stimulation. He's terrified of the dark, yet sees immense comfort when seeing the glimmer of stars.

In fairness, it wouldn't take much to puncture Starmer's argument - he's already changed his story quite a few times.
Firing Robbins for trying to navigate a tricky situation that Starmer himself created was a hilariously terrible idea.

Gil Duran tweet: TLDR: Fascism
in response to Palantir's long fascists screed on X.
"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X
The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.
I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).
So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.

When Bluesky announced its new AI to fix feeds, a UK journo declared that the people who poo-poohed it were guilty of 'performative AI luddism'
Still waiting for a response to my 'correction', such as it is.

With AI workers, not only bosses be able to demand more work without pushback and sexually harass their employees without pushback, but they'll be able to take advantage of stolen data and destroy the environment while doing it.
Call me a performative AI Luddite, but that seems like a bad thing...

"I just don't understand why you're not excited about AI, Sparky. It's going to change so many things about work and the workplace!"
No, it's just going to be the same as it always was, but much worse.
I mean, 'Never ask for a raise', 'No HR required'
What do you think that means?

Modern politics is a bit like watching a rock star desperately trying to recapture a past glory in service of a consumer that either doesn't exist any more or has moved on to more exciting/relevant stuff

Realizing that some of my inexplicable sadness about the Artemis II stuff is that it feels like a trans-dimensional communication from an America that took a different path and chose joy instead of fear and hate.

The question I find myself asking is 'if Americans can elect a Democrat in 2028, will it be more than a pause in the madness like Biden's term was?'
It's depressing to think about, but it's the most hopeful I can be right now.

Honestly, I hate being cynical and I hate the fact that a lot of what's happening in the USA right now leads me to cynicism.
I want to have hope, but it's hard to hope when Americans elects a President that wants to invade Greenland for...what? Shits and giggles?

I can only speak for myself (a queer Brit studying the Revolution), but after seeing Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Trump 1 & 2, it's really hard to have much sympathy for Americans.
I do try because I know not all Americans are okay with current events, but...yeah, it's real hard.

I think one of the things about bluesky is that for a lot of its users, it represents a kind of retirement from social media. Like I’m tired and I want to get out of the game

That said, Bluesky isn't really the place for in-depth discussions so I will quickly add that:
A) A lot of the examples below are probably better picks
B) 1997 as 'the end' is overrated
C) I feel like 1986, 1990, and 2016 might be minor contenders for 'the end' as well.

If you want a reason why I picked 1950, I see 'empire' as the ability of a nation imposing its authority on another smaller nation while being able to contain any substantial pushback, either internal or external.
After 1950, Britain's ability to do this is severely curtailed.

I feel like the British Empire as we understand it (Britain imposing its will on 1/4 of the world) is basically over by 1950 after the partition of India and the withdrawal of British troops from Israel.
Combine that with the switch from 'Empire' to Commonwealth' and that's basically it

At this point, it makes more sense to say that Trump is a Deep Penetration Agent for the former Soviet Union to get Americans to embrace socialism by just saying all the quiet deeply conservative stuff as loudly as possible.

I am genuinely interested in a deep dive into the data, though. It feels like a lot of the language is a bit vague on how these terms are defined.
What does 'usage' mean? How is that measured? Is this 'everyday' or work-related' usage?
Also, are they paying to use AI or is this the free version?

Apologies for my 'performative AI luddism' again, but I do like that you qualify your statement of AI 'mass adoption' that it is often forced upon us.
Had I more space, I'd also counter that 'mass adoption' is rapidly proving to be a major issue for society as a whole.
