To Protect And Swerve: NYPD Cop Has 547 Speeding Tickets Yet Remains On The Force - Streetsblog New York City One of the city’s most-dangerous drivers is an officer with the NYPD, which does nothing to stop his reign of terror on Staten Island.

Staten Island traffic cameras have caught a white RAM 1500 pickup truck blasting through school zones or running red lights more than 547 times since 2022.

The truck belongs to James Giovansanti, who lives and works there as an NYPD officer. nyc.streetsblog.org/2026/04/23/t...

So let me get this straight: The Trump Justice Department is accusing the SPLC of masterminding the Unite the Right Rally that President Trump has said was actually a good thing with good people?

Kevin Warsh just lost me. He argues he's going to be an independent Fed Chair, but refuses to acknowledge that Trump lost the 2020 election. If you can't state simple facts when you're in the political spotlight, you aren't independent. You're a coward.

I feel like Dems have been consultant-brain-rotted by Clinton’s famous “Sister Souljah” moment—and feel like they need to include scolding “Sister Souljah” lines in every speech or appearance. You don’t. You can offer a positive message & attack the corruption of the GOP. Your enemies are not Dems.

We must use US taxpayer dollars to backstop the UAE

Which is facing economic problems caused by the war Trump started and doesn't know how to win

A war encouraged by leaders of the UAE

Who have given hundreds of millions in bribes to Trump, his family, and associates

First, let's note that the Trump library saga combines the worse of his imperial presidency all in one: his use of lawsuits to extort private entities for tribute; his garishly awful decorative and architectural taste; and his Nero-scale megalomania.

In the same manifesto, Palantir's owners argued that we need a national military draft, that soft power is over, and that we were too hard on Germany and Japan after World War II. I don't think that company should be allowed to exist anymore.

Yeah, how we fund roads is stupid and irrational. Users don't pay the full direct costs, let alone the massive externality costs.

3 days ago 4 0 0 0

Local gov road funding varies significantly from place to place. On the aggregate, user fees (FHWA funds, vehicle registration, etc) amount to much more than "almost nothing".

But no dispute that user fees don't cover the full costs of roads, and that these subsidies encourage more driving.

It's about 2/3 nationally.

About 2/3 of road costs are paid by user fees.

Heavier vehicles pay higher taxes. Not enough to cover their costs. Taxpayers definitely subsidize heavier vehicles (including EVs).

...and, Amazon has many negative impacts on society.

Just pointing out that OP's exaggerations, which bugged me.

What’s interesting here is they say “culture” when they mean “people” but they think that this maintains a veneer of deniability about what they’re really saying. In any case it’s true that the “culture” of the tech billionaires is morally and intellectually depraved rot bsky.app/profile/elio...

To understand why the USA is where it is today, all you need to do is see that Trump cannot tolerate even the mildest, insightful criticism from the Pope, but Trump will allow Putin to humiliate him deeply and constantly, while still craving Putin’s approval.

Tech billionaires saying UBI is coming is hilarious because c’mon, how have they acted the last 5 years in response to the prospect of higher taxes on the rich and corporations to fund social programs?

I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.

He could say “Their blockade is being met by our blockade, which hurts them more than they benefit.” But he didn’t.

It’s funny how one always has to generously reinterpret Trump’s statements for them to even arguably make any sense.

Palantir put plans for techno-fascism in a document. Like a techno-fascist manifesto with themselves at the center. Features fascistic distortions of language and declarations of inherent superiority that should be acknowledged and made permanent, but driven by and with a more central role for tech.

Laying the marker down now — there will never come a time when people with significant economic interests in Silicon Valley will say “AGI/ASI have been achieved, it’s time to tax tech companies and billionaires to fund UBI.”

Syrian Billionaires Needed a Favor in Washington. They Invoked the Trump Name.

NYT INVESTIGATION: As the Trump administration & Congress last year moved to repeal sanctions on Syria, the Qatar-based family that most stood to benefit was privately negotiating a real-estate partnership with Jared Kushner and proposing a Trump golf course in Syria www.nytimes.com/2026/04/19/u...

Road infrastructure is mostly paid by gas taxes.

Jared Kushner is incredibly corrupt. He corruptly distorted US foreign policy in Trump’s first term to get more money into his and his father-in-law’s private accounts, and he’s accelerated those efforts in term 2.

Anyone who praised his Gaza real estate scheme as “peace” helped perpetuate it.
