We criticise the lack of attention toward human life on the #CentralMed – compared to minor events elsewhere. We are calling for an end to this neglect and demanding a guarantee of the right to freedom of movement for all.

The survivors – mostly unaccompanied minors – disembarked safely on Lampedusa yesterday evening. While they were in a medically stable condition, this case once again demonstrates the absurdity of how normalised it has become for people to risk their lives at sea during such dangerous crossings.
Yesterday, the NADIR crew sighted 27 people in distress on a fiberglass boat. The boat had departed Libya a day prior, but its engine had failed, leaving those on board without any life-saving equipment. Everyone was safely evacuated onto our sailboat.
@frontex.bsky.social, are you serious? Your aircraft saw a boat in distress but instead of informing ships for rescue, it only informed planes. Our air-crew reacted, flew to the scene & did what Frontex should've: inform ships. @resqship_int brought all survivors to Lampedusa this morning✊
vessel of the so-called Libyan coastguard arrives on scene of the evacuation
While Frontex's Osprey1 spotted the case, Europe did not act. Instead, a boat of the so-called Libyan Coastguard arrived on scene. Fortunately, they arrived too late to intercept the boat and force a return.
This morning, all people disembarked safely in Lampedusa.

53 people in distress, while Europe watches.
On monday, NADIR was alerted by a @en.sea-watch.org aircraft to an unstable rubber boat. Our crew immediately evacuated everyone – including 10 minors and a 2-year-old child – from the unseaworthy vessel.

Following urgent legal interventions, the UN Human Rights Committee issued interim measures urging authorities to act.
All 116 people were rescued by the Ocean Viking and are now safe on board. A gas platform is not a place of safety.

All authorities responsible for their rescue were informed.
None acted. On the fourth day, when the storm calmed, our crew set course to the platform - on standby alongside the Ocean Viking of @sosmediterranee.org and Trottamar 3 of
@compasscollective.bsky.social .
This week, 116 people were stranded for four days on the Miskar offshore gas platform in the middle of the Mediterranean - among them two babies, one child, and several teenagers. They had fled Libya and were caught in a storm with winds up to 40 knots and 6-meter waves.
Will people on the move soon be branded as terrorists? A new decree escalates Italy's war on migration. Yesterday, Meloni's ultra-right government published a proposal, including measures to deny our vessels entry into 🇮🇹territorial waters for 1-6 months.🧵https://t.co/Eot8NjJQHs
UN experts urge Malta to drop charges against El Hiblu 3 and uphold migrants’ rights
„We condemn these unjustified charges. We are also concerned that Maltese law criminalises as terrorism conduct that is not genuinely terrorist under international law.”

We call upon responsible politicians to take accountability for the duties of the EU and its member states. We will continue until freedom of movement is guaranteed for all!
A massive thank you to our incredible crews and all our supporters on land, at sea, and in the air! 🤍
Lampedusa was assigned as the port of safety. All 29 people disembarked safely by midnight. We wish them a safe onward journey. With this distress support, we conclude NADIR's tenth operation this year and the 2025 OP year, in which our crews supported 1855 people from 32 boats in distress at sea.
Following an Eagle1 Mayday Relay, the NADIR assisted 29 people in distress from a dangerously overcrowded rubber boat on Tuesday. Due to the urgent need for medical attention, all were immediately taken aboard the NADIR vessel. Tunisian authorities arrived but departed after a brief exchange.

So our crew first distributed life jackets to everyone and was then able to bring all people safely on board the NADIR shortly afterwards. The competent authorities assigned the NADIR Lampedusa as the next port of safety. On the way there, our crew had to navigate around a large thunderstorm front.
Last Saturday morning, our crew found a fiberglass boat in distress with 47 people on board. @alarmphone.bsky.social had previously reported the boat. When our crew arrived, the boat was already taking on water, and the people had no life jackets.
All 71 people were brought safely on board the NADIR, where they were provided with medical care, rescue blankets, water and food. Yesterday morning, the NADIR reached Lampedusa and all survivors could safely disembark. We wish them all the best!

Special thanks go to the crew of #Seabird1, the reconnaissance aircraft of @sea-watch.org, who stood by us when heavily armed assets of the so-called Libyan Coast Guard approached. They monitored the situation from the air, shared vital information and supported our crew in this difficult situation.
Wednesday noon, our crew assisted 71 people in distress in a heavily overcrowded rubber boat. Among them women and children. The boat was at severe risk of capsizing with waves around one meter high. When NADIR arrived, the people on board were extremely exhausted, many seasick, some with fever.
The NADIR arrived Tuesday night on the island with the 73 survivors of the first distress case. We wish them strength and safety on their onward journey.

While en route, the NADIR was informed of a second distress case by @alarmphone.bsky.social and @sea-watch.org 's monitoring aircraft #Seabird. The Louise Michel evacuated the 32 ppl from that boat, while the NADIR stood by, ready to assist if necessary, before later resuming course to Lampedusa.
This case once again shows that Tunisian authorities are neither able nor willing to coordinate or assist in situations of distress at sea. Civilian rescue remains essential to prevent further loss of life.
Our crew assessed the scene and quickly decided to evacuate everyone onto the NADIR and proceed to the assigned Port of Safety, Lampedusa. The crew of the @louisemichelcrew.bsky.social was also on scene and helped to shuttle the survivors to the NADIR.
On Tuesday morning, our crew encountered a rubber boat in distress, alerted by @alarmphone.bsky.social. 73 people, including 4 unaccompanied minors, were on board. Water was already entering and there was a high risk of drowning.
The evacuated people had departed from Libya two days earlier. After being assigned Lampedusa as Port of Safety, NADIR reached the island around midnight. All 56 survivors disembarked safely.

After distributing life vests, our crew brought everyone safely aboard NADIR and provided first aid and drinking water. Many survivors were severely dehydrated and exhausted after spending days exposed to the elements.

On Sunday at noon, our crew spotted 56 people, including several minors, crowded onto a rubber boat that was taking on water. Those on board reported that the situation was rapidly worsening and becoming life-threatening as the waves and panic increased.
