Zeus, a blue barred pigeon, faces the camera just after landing on a flat roof.
Zeus. His mate Hera is out of frame, and he's getting ready to bow, coo, and dance for her. #birds #pigeons
A yellow-rumped warbler perches on a Y-shaped branch with one foot planted on each side. Blue sky fills the background.
Yellow-rumped warbler—ready for launch (and probably lunch, too). #birds
A hermit thrush perches deep in a plum tree on bare branches sprinkled with lichen.
With the time change, I've missed the good bird light for the past two days. Here's a hermit thrush from a couple of days ago. #birds

JavaScript in the Dressing Room is a great format. I’m looking forward to seeing your channel grow.
Early online chat that allowed some HTML for formatting, then Geocities. It all grew from there.
An American robin perches in the outer branches of a plum tree in bright afternoon sunshine.
Today was a good day for spotting thrushes:
- this robin
- a hermit thrush, same tree and another
- a small flock of Western bluebirds calling and flying past, about a block away

A female or immature Anna's hummingbird perches on a plum branch. The light is soft and filtered through clouds.
It's supposed to rain today. Until then, the backyard hummingbirds are taking turns chasing one another and every other bird away from choice perches. #birds
A common raven perches on a bare cypress branch in bright afternoon light. They're facing the left side of the frame with their head turned to the right.
A black oystercatcher shakes tiny drops of water from their feathers in bright afternoon light.
I'm still going through photos from last week's walk through Heron's Head Park. Several pairs of black oystercatchers were out foraging along the shore.
This one fluffed up and let out a good shake, sending little water droplets everywhere. #birds
A willet in nonbreeding plumage walks across barnacle encrusted concrete at the edge of San Francisco Bay.

WIP local development website screenshot. The page shows a grid of cards featuring birds. Each card has a different color theme inspired by its bird. Three birds have overlays showing a unified set of CSS custom properties driving the cards' colors.
Custom properties are a great fit for managing color and theming.
Thanks for the invite, Daryll. Please add me.
An adult brown pelican flies close to the surface of San Francisco Bay.
I watched this pelican glide in, getting closer and closer to the water until they landed with a big splash. It wasn't so much a dive, but rather a plop, still beak-first. They didn't go under.

Hi from a web dev person.
loren!!! pigeon says hi too.
The right side of the frame is filled with a pigeon walking toward the camera. His neck shows iridescent colors, mostly green and purple, with flashes of gold across his back.
Hi everyone. I'm Chris. I build web things and take nature photos, usually birds or the sky.
PS—it's nice to see some familiar faces here.
Thanks so much, Liz!
