I was curious about Hummer Fragrances, because its website has expired and the scents have been discontinued. A rabbit hole awaited me. The fragrances were created in 2004 and licensed by Elizabeth Arden in 2006. The Hummer x Arden partnership outlasted the 2010 shuttering of the truck line, a General Motors exec told the The New York Times, in order for the carmaker to retain a patent on the name. The NYT article featuring Arden as licensee ran in February 2015, and CEW first linked Luxe to Hummer in October 2015. (Luxe didn’t start including it in its company bio until this year.) The license transfer wasn’t announced and, since the patent is still solely held by GM, we’ll never know the full ballad of Hummer Perfume.
