Yes! We advocate for a Mixed-Member Proportional system, because it's immune to gerrymandering & the spoiler effect.

Agreed, Alec. There is a deep feeling of wrong with our society. Everyone can feel it. Everyone has this edge to them. Like we're all holding our breaths, waiting for the day it's our turn.

I have an idea forming, that I think could do a great deal of good, but I need help. Would love to chat.

@propublica.org does some fantastic investigative journalism. They're also funded mostly by individual donations, reducing the profit motive to sensationalize. Highly recommend giving them a read sometime.

Oh, you mean the exact thing everyone said would happen? The most predictable side-effect of anonymous, masked goons abducting people off the street!?

How about that?

Americans blame Republicans for govt shutdown, poll finds The survey is a further sign of bubbling frustration with the party, as the government shutdown passes the one-month mark.

The fact that they're fighting to make health insurance even more expensive, on top of the up to 50% premium increases, really hits home how much the GOP just doesn't give a shit about people.

We are not their constituents. The robber barons & megacorps are.

REDMAP - Wikipedia

REDMAP happened and it's why we need to change House elections to a proportional system that negates gerrymandering & the spoiler effect. We advocate for a mixed-member proportional system (with open lists!), but there are others.

Bernie Sanders gives credit to Trump for acknowledging that the ‘system is broken’ Sanders said that Trump is ‘making it worse’ despite the fact that he realises that the system is broken

Bernie's right. Despite all the Redhats' extremism, the sentiments behind a lot of their complaints are valid. The system is broken. Our government is dysfunctional.

The first step to solving it is a proportional system instead of first past the post voting.

My Last Day as an Accomplice of the Republican Party Why I’m leaving the GOP and why I’m urging my former colleagues to do the same.

Very interesting read from a former Republican on the ground. It's important to remember that these folks we disagree with aren't necessarily bad people. We lose Liberty through small concessions, one after another, until you've woken up one day and realized you gave all those freedoms away.

More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days. The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents.

They’ve had their necks kneeled on.

They’ve been held outside in the rain while in their underwear.

At least three citizens were pregnant when agents detained them.

Q: “Most hospitals + people who will lose insurance are in rural areas. If Trump & Republicans are so intent on sticking it to their own voters, why not let them?”

@aoc.bsky.social : “That’s the difference between us & Trump. I don’t care if you voted for me, I want you to have health care.”

This is more evidence of the plutonomy, an economy that only the wealthy can participate in. The folks who are doing well for themselves (bravo!), but aren't rich, make up the very bottom part of the plutonomy. They're now what people think of when imagining a modern "middle class" lifestyle.

More info reinforcing the broken economy. Now, most folks would take this as a complaint about inflation, and it is in a way, but there's a bigger point: The $20K car is gone and shoppers on a budget are almost forced to buy used now.

Social media, in its current form, is a machine that devours trust. It is a machine that turns us against our neighbors. It is a machine built to destroy the human spirit.

We've gotta change it so that shadowy algs can't manipulate us anymore.

Wait, putting our kids in front of an app that shoves ragebait down their throats, is designed to be as addictive as possible, and makes money off of manipulating our opinions was a bad idea?

How could anyone have guessed that? /s

Few patients appeal a health insurance denial, but a little-known process that requires insurers and plans to seek an independent opinion can force insurers to pay for what can be lifesaving treatment.

Here’s what experts say you need to know.

He's right. Everything with politics is exhausting now, isn't it? Makes you just want to tune out & stop participating. DON'T! Tyrants try to get you to disengage from what's happening around you.

If your voice did not have power, they wouldn't be trying so hard to discourage you from using it.

Or, and hear us out here, leave your phone at home so the cops can't use location data to show you were there at all. LEOs often use data they purchase from brokers to ID protest participants. If you have a connected car, it might've even told them your fuel efficiency on the drive downtown.

How can one tell if an org has too much bias? You can't. There's no way to apply such a rule.

Really, Sen. Cruz just seems upset that sometimes he disagrees with reality, and he's chosen to try hunting snipes rather than self-reflect.

P.S., We learned a new word the other day: Kayfabe. Look it up!

We also notice that nobody who discusses the topic seems to consider the cost of housing. Perhaps if we hadn't spent 50 years not building enough, housing would be affordable enough that there wouldn't be a homeless crisis?

It's a wild idea, isn't it, to incentivize building affordable homes? /s

Name one time a forced mental health treatment system has succeeded. We tried this before! Danvers State Hospital, Trenton Psych. Hospital, they always end in horrific abuse. Experiences that are the inspiration for horror films shouldn't be a model for mental healthcare.
