I did the same this evening. Got a new copy for my Christmas to replace my worn-out original. Blue Bell Knoll too.

Got this for Christmas- 43 years after I bought my first copy (long gone after a disastrously misjudged lend). Listening to it again in its entirety after a good few years, it’s lost none of its impact - an almost greatest hits album as a debut - a colossus and one of the greatest albums ever made.

I had kind of gone off The Cure at that point and I had been more looking forward to Aztec Camera, but then they opened with Shake Dog Shake and my belief was re-born. I missed seeing the New Order debacle live on TV, but luckily my pal @bigscottrae.bsky.social had set his video for that.

Brilliant day - Aztec Camera in the afternoon then The Cure in the evening. The tickets were given out a week or two in advance at a gig at Night Moves (?) - it might even have been two on consecutive weekends - maybe Friends Again was one..? My memory’s a bit sketchy.

‘Legitimate interest’ isn’t even a valid legal basis under the relevant legislation (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations). I don’t know why the Information Commissioner’s Office hasn’t clamped down on this. They need to start dishing out some meaningful fines.
