Voting done ✅. We were 45 minutes from arrival to departure. Not much is asked of us as return for living in a great country: pay your taxes, vote, and be a good neighbour.

Not having our cards caused me to do some searching online for the location, since we’d moved between elections. But my driver’s license made the process easy! Quick in and out!

✅ I voted today. Seems like no one had voter registration cards at the advance polling station but it was humming with a steady stream of individuals doing their civic duty! #onted #election

That was really important learning! Thanks for engaging in the experiment and then for sharing your findings. Now we all need to know if we have the same mats for replication or if further experiments need to be conducted. 🤣

ISO great tips and advice for cleaning an #airfryer. It is the preferred cooking device for my husband’s #carnivore diet and it gets coated in fat splatter. Suggestions for keeping the fins and edge clean? Heating coil? #cleaningtips

If it’s not safe for school busses to be on the road, how is it safe enough for your school staff to be on the road before the sun comes up? 🚍 cancellations should be an automatic school closure. Agree?

As secondary teachers are now into week 2 with classes, what’s your favourite strategy for ongoing community building? In week 2, I’m now checking that students know each other’s names and performing introductions to nearby seat mates as needed. Names begin authentic relationships. #onted

My town just opened a #TacoBell. It’s been almost 2 decades since I’ve eaten from one. Worth it? What to order? Recommendation?

I’m thinking of adding Microsoft Word to my Mac. Good idea or bad idea? Microsoft 365 subscription (more expensive, access to updates) or the one-time purchase (not looking for cloud storage)? Thanks for your insights BlueSky network!

And the wages for front line workers!

I love talking with teachers from other parts of the province. It’s a good reminder: 1. There is no greener grass elsewhere 2. Kids are kids everywhere and 3. It takes all of us to change the direction that education has been heading. Frontline education workers aren’t pretending it’s ugly. It is.

Happy last week of instruction to all my secondary colleagues in semestered schools. Can’t wait for the new class list smell. 🤣 Hang in there. This week might be like pulling teeth but it’s because you care that that students can safely push boundaries. What doesn’t kill you… #onted

Absolutely agree. As I visit schools, the current credit recovery model in sec. serves a small number of students, the way it was designed, and has allowed a much larger number to give themselves permission to not complete course work and exams. I hear frustration/annoyance from teachers.

Hey Secondary folks! It’s at this time of year that many of us in #OntEd start talking about credit recovery. Is it working in your school? Is it making teaching staff have “negative emotions” or do we see it really helping graduation rates? Thoughts? 🍿👀👂

I love when I pose a critical thinking question to a class and there is a pause and then noise as little groups all start sharing their ideas. It’s important to challenge our students with ideas that are accessible but require them to use reasoned judgement. #GoodDay #teaching

Does vacation end for you on a Friday (the last work day of your time off) or on Sunday (the day before your return to work)? Somehow laundry, grocery shopping, meal prep, and packing lunches doesn’t feel like vacation! Thoughts #Onted?

New Year’s Resolution broken on January 1 (eating before bed). Do I a) accept my failure and try again next year or b) fail forward and continue to try to do better, challenging myself every single day? One of these seems so much easier than the other… #January2Problems

Absolutely true! I always say it takes 3 weeks to wind down to enjoy a couple of good weeks before the 3 weeks of winding back up and preparation work! Only teachers really know…

Any other teachers starting to panic because it’s Wednesday and the pile of work that you left to “do over the break” is still sitting there? The guilt of not working, up against the “working while off work” guilt. The struggle continues. #TeacherLife #OntEd
