To add to this, I often see new PAs done with jewelry that's waaaaaaay too thin, which can expedite the migration/tearing aspect. When I perform these piercings, I usually shoot for an 8 to 6 gauge range depending on the size of urethral opening

A great resource to make sure you are going to a quality studio/piercer is the safepiercing.org website. You can find a quality studio that only sells implant grade jewelry. I'd ask the piercers experience with genitals. If they have healed photos etc
