When we talk about "child-friendly kerbsides"... this is exemplary!

These are totally unacceptable and heartbreaking. So clearly illustrates why double yellows matter - but how widely ignored they are. Enforcement must be increased. We’d love to use these photos with your permission?

📣 Parents/carers. If cars make your walk or cycle to school feel unsafe, that's not okay.
We need your photos of the school run! The more people can see how awful it is - and how unsafe it is for our children - the more power we have. DM pix or tag us in a post.

🎉 This #bikebus celebrated the first anniversary, in December, of our most ambitious and transformative school street.
🚸 Our #StreetsforKids campaign is pushing for an effective school street for all schools.

⭐️ Commuters who need a car for work?
⭐️ Parents/carers of SEND children driving to school?
⭐️ Local residents who'd benefit from no drop-off/pick up traffic jams?
⭐️ Children and families walking or cycling to school?
It's all of the above! School streets benefit us all.
And no one ever misses this ⬇️
Got that back-to-school feeling? Grim isn't it?
🚸 The knock-on effect that term time vs school holidays has on traffic is huge.
🚗 🚗 In some areas the school run has been reported to increase pollution and bus times by 50% compared to school holidays.

The Institution of Civil Engineers says heavier vehicles are a factor in pothole formation and reducing the lifespan of roads.
😮 A record £18.6bn of #taxpayermoney now funds road repairs.
💪 Our #streetsforkids campaign pushes for fairer parking tariffs to discourage #carspreading

More evidence that car bloat endangers pedestrians.
New papers finds that vehicles >5.5 feet tall are more likely to hit pedestrians while turning left or backing up.

Thank you for amplifying Max!
They can be expensive, true (though a fraction of the cost of a car). We see lots living on the street secured to lampposts with motorbike chains overnight - but we're also pushing local councillors to commit to secure cargo parking in their May 7 manifestos
Plain and simple truth. Which is why infrastructure is one of the things we push tirelessly to improve, especially around the time of the school run when children are so vulnerable to cars.
Also - if you don't already - do follow @joinourcargocollective on Instagram. They also host a super useful WhatsApp group for those with cargos and those keen to get one, swapping tips on things like parking. We see many cargos secured outside homes to lampposts with motorbike chains FYI...
Stick with us Kimmy! We're pushing hard for secure cargo bike parking residentially and also out-and-about. It's something we're asking local candidates in May 7 elections to commit to in their manifestos. So far, so good - stay tuned!
Hi Caroline. Assuming from your profile pic this isn't something that affects you? Safe cycle routes and secure out and about parking for cargos could help this situ so much - we're pushing for both and getting commitments on May 7 manifestos
Hello - please can you share/DM the location of this? Thank you.
So much this 💔 We are working hard on getting local councils to put our safer streetsforkids asks into their manifestos for May 7. So far, so good 🤞 - change cannot come fast enough.

❓ Traffic-induced high blood pressure, shouting kids and car seat faffing... Ever wondered why so many parents today drive the school run - despite almost universally hating it!?
👉🏼 Here, we summarise the issues… www.solvetheschoolrun.org/the-school-run
Why is the UK so far behind France and Germany with cargo bike purchases?
Cycling Electric Magazine highlighted the following figures for new purchases:*:
UK - 4000
Germany - 90,000
France - 70,000
Quite a difference!
🤔 Why, do you think?

Quieter on the roads now the schools have broken up?
In London, 50% of all journeys during peak morning rush hour - whether walking, cycling, public transport or driving - are for education.
We also know 75% of children walk or cycle to school.
But this is what our priority looks like? ⬇️
480,000 London car trips per day are down to the school run 😮

🚘 ""We get contacted by so many parents worried about their children's safety with the number and size of supersized SUVs on the streets often their number one concern."

The school run and peak morning rush hour take place simultaneously.
In London, 50% of all journeys at that time - whether walking, cycling, public transport or driving - are for education.
We also know 75% of children walk or cycle to school.
