After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn’t like.
I really didn’t expect this new John Cena action movie to be a rousing defense of NATO and its continued necessity in the 21st century, but I’m an hour and a half in and here we are.
I’m teaching Intro to IR for the first time in awhile, hoping to reimagine my syllabus, and looking for inspiration and good models. Anyone willing to share their own? 👀
This is the way. I’ve spent the last 23 years at universities in some capacity. Well over half my life. My familiarity with them has bred plenty of contempt. But sweet Jesus it’s about time universities stand up and defend the enormous good they’ve done for the world. Loudly and unapologetically.
