What is the "Mamdani Act"? GOP bill would ban socialists, Marxists from US Chip Roy's "Mamdani Act" would make socialists, Marxists and Islamists deportable and inadmissible to the United States.

demented nonsense

As the #YearoftheHorse begins, I will share an overview of my recent journey through reconstructing prehistoric horses. For such an important, beloved, and fascinating lineage, there isn't an abundance of paleoart of them (and very little that diverges from established tropes)🧵. #paleoart #sciart

J K Rowling should never be treated as having any legitimate stake in LGBTQ activism. She has only ever been hostile to it, except when it has suited her own private ends. Queer organisations should be for queer people, in every sense.

God bless the MS Paint artists of Wikipedia.

This lovely image from the article on the Last Glacial Maximum is attributed to the artist Wobble.

It documents human cultural presence in Europe centering in certain regions in the south during the most recent height of Pleistocene glaciation.

"the left are a bunch of cultural relativists" would be a stronger point if it wasn't coming from people who, when their own culture is even mildly criticised, absolutely shit their pants

You guys made it in a book

“The taking of Egypt could not be ignored by anyone who considered themselves to be a Roman emperor. It would have attracted negative attention from even the most milquetoast ruler, and Aurelian was the exact opposite of that. I have often seen, to my great delight, the (highly recommended) Rough Roman Memes subreddit describe Aurelian as a gigachad because of his unstoppable energy and massive success in reunifying the empire. Aurelian definitely had Zenobia on his to-do list before she took Alexandria, but that action made him pivot at lightning speed. Even though Zenobia had appointed a Roman governor (having defeated and killed the previous one), had taken no action to interfere with the ports and was acting exactly as though Egypt was still very much a part of the empire and Aurelian was emperor, Aurelian fully abandoned the overrun province of Dacia to the Goths so that he could leg it to the east as fast as he could.”

Shoutout to @emmasouthon.bsky.social for shouting out our subreddit in her book. 😌

I’m gonna have to read your book.

Much love from the r/RoughRomanMemes mod team and community! Thanks for teaching people about women in Roman history!

This inscription from Ekron, only found in 1996, is a bit of an enigma: dated to the 7th c. BCE based on the mention of a known ruler, it uses a nice 8th-c. #Hebrew script, but with #Phoenician spelling. Language is presumably #Philistine but can't be classified beyond Canaanite (like H. and Ph.).

YouTube ReligionForBreakfast Who Was Allah Before Islam? Pre-Islamic Evidence of ALLAH

I love everything Religion For Breakfast ever does but why did he title this like a gossip article about a newly popular celebrity that just had a massive debut in a new hit movie?

Exclusive interviews with al-Lat, al-‘Uzza, and Manat inside.

If Trump was remotely competent, he’d use the Artemis II success as a focus to leverage his bad public image upwards.

But no, he makes inflammatory war statements because he’s a true believer in the violence and vengefulness that invokes. He thinks displays of violent strength are the answer.

Re:samurai and honor
Consider how western media depicts knights and chivalry. I think more complex stories aren't under the illusion that a code of conduct was reality. That knights weren't capable of gruesome violence or backbiting intrigue as part of the nobility.
All out the window with samurai.

Joseph Smith with his handsome face, slick hair, and nice blue suit.

Some of y’all aren’t ready for this completely true conspiracy theory but has anyone ever seen Gavin Newsom and Joseph Smith in the same room together?

Smith was heading west when he was “assassinated” (disappeared) trying to run for president. Clearly he was playing the long game.

The first commemoration post this year on r/RoughRomanMemes was a “we still talk about you” meme labeled as it being the 1982nd anniversary. Someone used 44 AD instead of 44 BC.

To be fair, I miss Emperor Claudius, who was reigning at that time. I want the guy’s book on the Etruscan language.

There's a broken cuneiform tablet from the Old Babylonian period, nearly 4,000 years ago, which preserves a tiny portion of a dialogue between two friends.

It feels a bit like the conversations I've been having for the past week, so I wanted to share it.

I cannot emphasize enough that every few thousand years in the Holocene, some person in Afro-Eurasia looks at a large bovid and decides to reinvent the cow.

You start learning about cattle domestication and they’re all from different local events.
