The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects,[a] against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized
Bit woke, that Fourth Amendment.

Had this nagging feeling that what’s going on in the US had a familiar tone. I think I’ve got it. The entire US has been turned into a colossal version of Zimbardo’s Stanford Prison Experiment.

It’s now common at every other level too.
Tried this in brain. Wasn’t able to obtain a clean enough preparation but there were some hopeful signs.
This from @tressiemcphd.bsky.social hit me over the head like a mallet of truth. This is the thing. This is what I’ve been trying to warn people about perfectly crystallized. www.nytimes.com/2025/08/12/o...
If the abstract I'm reading tells me Drp1 was "upgraded" I stop reading. If a journal isn't rigorous enough to request the correction of a simple grammatical error in the abstract then how do I trust their rigor elsewhere?
The US government is aiming to get rid of a quarter million people involved in science research and education by 2026.
I have no words.
Congratulations from the other side of the river!

I NEED to tell you the story of Tae Heung “William” Kim.
He's a graduate student at Texas A&M where he's working on a vaccine for Lyme disease.
He's a *legal permanent resident* of the United States.
And he's been in ICE detention for 12 days & counting, transferred Tuesday to South Texas.
Nope! Most fascinating organelle.
Pulling up the ladder after he’s climbed it.

A rude awakening that THIS is the USA. This is what we do to people here.
Are you saying that old Nige isn’t spending quality time with the constituents of Clacton-on-Sea? As far as I’m aware the Moon and Starfish is still open for this man of the people to have a pint with his constituents.
After a hiatus of several years (while not producing research output) I just reviewed for Springer Nature and noticed that emails were signed with "Journal Name" or "Editorial Assistant" not the name of the editor or editorial assistant. Is this common practice now?
The Open Science in Undergraduate Education Symposium @alleninstitute.org was amazing! So many great talks and workshops with ideas for implementing #openscience and #programming in undergraduate education.

Crucial to human cultural evolution!
Students rely on instructors for mental health support now more than ever. We need help managing this in addition to our professional work and home lives. It’s a lot.
Big lab! Congrats to all!

Hello Seattle! 👋
This is a great loss. He was friendly and approchable and a pioneer in the aging field.
This is a paradigm shift in the way we think about #alzheimers #AD and should be shared widely. #neuroskyence #neuroscience
Yes! Great to see this important work being done.
Unable to read the article. Is this because MDs can pull salary from clinical hours?
My favourite example: before the law prohibited it pubs in England would salt the beer to make people want to drink more. (Now they have worked out that they can even sell you the salt, in the form of crisps and peanuts.)
Sorry
