Tales Of are good bc they're imperfect! They're messy & they do all sorts of goofy or even questionable things but I prefer it. It's all good fun and conversation pieces to be had! I DO like that Tales Of (yes, even Arise LOL) tried new things which is a sign of artistic integrity despite the risks

But ToB's cast to me, while being a band of misfits is the point, isn't as strong like ToZ's.
I love Velvet and Phi, but Rokuro is kinda just there and other significant charas kinda exist more to fulfill roles that Velvet herself can't
Tbh, I felt like ZAVEID would have fit more than Rokuro 😂

Tbh I feel like there wasn't ENOUGH reading in game for me LOL... I adore finding in game text and context clues... Maybe that's why Sorey and Mikleo endear me so, because they need out over lore and set pieces too LOL (giant shrimp...)

That's the best part! The fact that every Shepherd UNTIL Sorey has either failed or was almost antagonistic is a brilliant subversion... The FIRST lord of Calamity being a victim of circumstance and the product of the Shepherd's cold hearted, altruistic justice is deliciously tragic....

To me, ToB feels worth it for it's connections to ToZ but wouldn't stand without it's connections to it's shared world and lore! ToB is good bc ToZ is good! And the elaborations we get on the tumultuous history of Shepherds, Seraphim and the Lord of Calamity.. !

And we're definitely missing out on that....
I love ZZZ and HSR but live service models get exhausting when they constantly wanna sell you characters and take away team building flexibility
I miss the satisfying closure you get from a full game with a full cast and create unique memories of!

That's the best way to go about it tbh!
I felt the same with Arise; the pacing was off for me on top of the art style that felt like it was trying too hard to appeal to a broader demographic
The whole point of Tales Of, to me at least, was to create very cinematic anime stories that you could PLAY!

That is JUST playing a game to immerse yourself in the world with the characters for a complete, whole package experience. It's like meeting new friends, growing with them and saying good bye each time; not always perfect but you have great memories to keep by the end!
