the silver lining though is i have a WIP of something called "goobersong" and i love that so much so it is staying like that

Oh I am most certainly inside the nerdosphere, haha. I've been on and off testing different distros on a test machine I have, and I've just now gotten brave enough to try it with my main computer.
fwiw: game music, especially music that comes from a place of deep respect for fan communities as part of its creation, deserves to live in conversation with each other & not locked down behind a gate. that's always been my stance on the things i have copyright control over. in case it wasn't clear.
