the original name for this concept when it was first floated around the team was Topics. honestly maybe this wasn’t so bad. it got bikeshedded to death but maybe it gives better intuition than Communities. it’s more about “we collect this kind of stuff here” than “come here to post this thing”

i want interest-based / subculture-based entry points into the global discourse. not a parallel universe of boxes you can put stuff into but more like a categorization like “this group of people’s view on which discourses around topic X are worth paying attention to”. to me this screams useful
