Stop assuming Deaf people can’t do anything because of “communication barriers” because like… ??? Deaf people have always been able to find multiple ways to communicate. You just don’t wanna do anything other than speak.. the barrier is YOU in those situations.

Some folks are suggesting that the alt text field can be used to get around the 300 character limit on Bluesky, as alt text here has a much higher character limit. This is terrible advice, and if you do this, know you'll confuse and annoy a lot of screen reader users. That's not a good thing to do.

Have to love a strong opening:

I am angry at hearingness these days, especially in interpreters, teachers of the deaf, and even CODAs. But I figure they don’t know what they don’t know until deaf people tell them. And deaf people are not telling them about their hearingness. And the cycle goes on and on and on and on.

Another thing, the images they use are obviously stock images.

A friend of mine pointed out that they happen to know the little girl and her mother.

The plot twist? They use ASL.
