It Was on Your Table Every Morning Growing Up. It’s Dying Before Our Eyes. No One Wants to Face It. The powerhouse of American citrus is suffering a brutal decline. Everyone has a theory about why.

Totally off-topic, but did y'all the know the Free State of Florida's citrus industry is basically dead??

This is quite a story:

Definitely an acquired taste. Having acquired it, the only real benefit is being able to drink them when the rest of the beer menu is Bud, Coors, Molson, Labatt, or IPAs.

Coming to the emergency vet for an emergency sucks. Being here with appointments for specialists (because they’re also the most comprehensive animal hospital in the area) sucks way less. Especially when you get a call asking if they can combine some work to save you money and time.

There is one blonde white woman celebrity for each medium, they just changes their makeup slightly depending on who they are playing that day. There might be a couple if height matters.

There are those who know what they’re doing who THINK AI is helping them… but it isn’t. It’s less efficient and drains them of experience and confidence in their own work. Note that I’m not talking ML research stuff - I’m not familiar enough with it to have an opinion.

I’ll say it again - those who benefit the most from LLM/AI use in an office job were already terrible at their job. The average-output mistake machine just happens to be better than the zero/negative productivity they were previously contributing.

My grandfather had a parking spot at the home he was in. It was next to the exit at the end of his hall. He’d have a friend borrow it and leave a bottle of gin in the trunk for him to have a nip of. Eventually the staff told him he could keep the bottle in his mini fridge.

Every few years Lotto Max increases the number pool (used to be 49, then 50, now 52 pick 7). I assume this is because some friend of an OLG executive keeps wanting to pick their age.

Insta ad crosses my screen for a restaurant collab that sounds great. A beat later I realize that I made a reservation a month ago, and have completely forgotten. Panic sets in because I don’t know the date. Is it tonight? No! Next week! Same day I take a cat in to the vet for invasive tests! YAY!

Still better than the Cybertruck.

Cybertruck pulled out of a parking garage, followed by a white Maybach. The evident quality difference in these two “I have too much money” machines was obvious. The Tesla should have burst into flames from embarrassment.

Or I guess top 2 picks have to go to the bottom 5 teams. Look, just give us something to cheer about.

The Leafs actually managed to finish in the bottom 5! Now the #1 pick lottery has to go to one of those bottom 5 teams for them to HAVE a first round pick. Time for a nice long rest for the Blue & White.

I don’t *think* it was really a thing here when I was applying. I had been on my ultimate choice’s campus before, but not as a tour, as a summer program run there. I visited my other choice a year earlier when a friend wanted to see the campus, and another friend in 1st year showed us around a bit.

Good guys lost. But at least there were moments of hope.

They still have the line about rockets and bombs bursting in the US Anthem? Seems inappropriate today.

Going to see what’s left of the Blue Jays play the Dodgers. Could be fun!

most religious food prohibitions and rules can best be read as ancient food safety manuals because “god says don’t do the thing that makes everyone sick” is a pretty good way to get people to pay attention

Also, there are sports. Of which I care about 25% of. But I accept that because it is people expressing joy or frustration due to fandom.

As a Bluesky user who has zero commercial interest, my issue is that it’s turned into the same depressing America-centric doomfeed that the other place became. Yes, that’s partially because my follows are similarly-minded, but it also means I see the same sad shit multiple times every visit.

Only if you feel art is immutable, unemotional, and not open to interpretation. I’d argue that isn’t art, but documentation.
