We may see renewal, at the Lord’s discretion, when:
1) we preach according to the word rather than the winds of culture
2) we prize prayer over pragmatism
3) our repentance outpaces our reviling
4) we commit to believing the gospel is the only power of transformation

One of the worst things for humble people to hear is a lot of talk about how humble they are. Just let humble people be. Encourage them in other ways maybe and then “gossip” good things about how humble they are behind their backs.

The revival we aim for in our preaching may still be quenched by our pride. The Spirit exalts the broken, not the boisterous.

Beautiful ironies of the cross: As they mock him, they submit to prophecy. As they lift him, they exalt him. As they kill him, he conquers. This dark Friday is Good.

"...Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end" (John 13:1). Inexhaustible, immortal, invincible, eternal love.

Spent the last half of today’s workout thinking about how if I were to lose my reputation (rightfully or wrongfully), I would still have my Redeemer, and that therefore I would still be more than okay. I love Jesus.

Reading this book in high school helped change my life

Col. 1:11 is simply astounding. How much power may we be strengthened in? How much endurance and patience with joy will we be strengthened for? ALL. The gospel can sustain you with max effect. Not because *you're* strong, but because Christ is ("according to his glorious might").

The love of God is stronger than our flesh, greater than our suffering, more powerful than our sin, and more eternal than death.

Jesus is there, at the end of your rope.

The restoration of Peter is (more) proof that the children of God cannot out-sin the grace of God.

There will be no renewal without repentance.

The power of the good news is not found in the one who is preaching it but in the One who accomplished it.
