Got mixed feelings about this one. As much as I dislike Anthony Furey, him dropping out of the mayoral race effective leaves Brad Bradford - who must be stopped at all costs - as the only primary challenger to Olivia Chow. Very concerned about Chow's chances because of this. 😭 #TOpoli #StopBradford

As much as how Anthony Furey not running would be good news, I am deeply concerned this effectively means Brad Bradford - who must be stopped at all costs - would be the only primary challenger to Olivia Chow. 😭 #TOpoli

Ride the Loop, Close the Gaps! Today was another ride organized by TCBC to publicize the potential of a 78 km loop of safe bike trails around the city, and also drawing attention to the gaps in the route. There was an earlier edition of the ride last November that looked at the southern portion of the loop. The weather forecast for today was pretty decent, and we had quite a large crowd at the start point which was Fix Coffee and Bikes at the Well.

Today's cargo bike test ride is party was my favourite kind of event. So many big smiles and happy people riding bikes. I heard from people who left the event much closer to getting a cargo bike, and people who felt less weird or alone in their choice to bike with kids.

Shawn Micallef: Toronto’s main drag is a real drag. So why is the Yonge Street redesign taking the slow road? The sluggish pace of the transformation Toronto’s most famous street is in sharp contrast to how quickly Church Street is set to become pedestrianized.

Per the latest column from @shawnmicallef.bsky.social about the latest disappointing yongeTOmorrow proposal, "If Toronto can’t pull off a proper pedestrianization on Yonge, it shames itself in front of peer cities." Couldn't agree more! #BikeTO #WalkTO #TOpoli www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

Per @davidcoletto.bsky.social in this Twitter/X thread, the combination of the #GravyPlane and the FOI changes have the potential to destroy Doug Ford's brand of being accessible which took 15 years to build. Could this be Doug Ford's Walkerton? 🤞 #ONpoli #PCPO #OLP #ONDP xcancel.com/DavidColetto...

Not surprised by Doug Ford's move to scrap public hearings to ram through legislation that will shield him, cabinet ministers, and parliamentary assistants from FOI requests. Provincial (and federal) leaders should not be allowed to treat their governments as dictatorships FFS! #shame #ONpoli

All things considered, this is a really big improvement, especially for the LRTs but also for the streetcar system.
We’re all looking forward to seeing this in action! 🚋💨

If this blatant display of why Doug Ford wants jets at Billy Bishop Airport - so he can use his new private jet per this morning's Toronto Star article - doesn't get Ontarians outraged enough to demand Ford's resignation or vote him out, I don't know what will! #shame #ONpoli #VoteFordOut #NoJetsTO

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRESS RELEASE: Doug Ford's "Gravy Plane" the real reason for Ford's sudden interest in jets at the island airport
Today, the Toronto Star reported that Premier Doug Ford has purchased a jet that can only be flown from the island airport if jet expansion at the island airport goes through.
"The timing of Ford's purchase of his taxpayer funded "Gravy Plane" and his sudden interest in expanding the island airport is not a coincidence, Norm Di Pasquale highlighted. "For eight years Premier Ford has not said a single word about the island airport, and suddenly he's hell bent on expand the airport to allow him to fly Gravy Plane jet from there. Ford continues to make decisions affecting Torontonians with the sole focus of him being able to get to work and his fundraisers across Ontario faster.
Any other level of government that gets involved in this seemingly corrupt process will now be tarred with Ford's taxpayer funded Gravy Plane."
NoJetsTO calls on the Government of Ontario to abandon this rushed plan and allow Torontonians to have their say on the airport by keeping the City of Toronto in the Tripartite Agreement.

The reason behind the push for jets at Billy Bishop seems clearer.
Where is he flying with this jet?

I don't know why this is so hard for some people to grasp. If we extend our use of fossil gas, rather than going all-out for grid batteries, heat pumps and induction hobs, we extend our dependence on *foreign* sources of gas, regardless of whether we also use the UK's last remaining reserves. 🧵

Doug Ford and Olivia Chow announce start of Ontario Line tunnelling The province and city were at odds over the island airport but have recently partnered to fund the Waterfront East LRT.

Great to hear that tunnelling for the Ontario Line has finally begun at Exhibition. Given construction won't be done until the early 2030's, there is a need to start planning now for an eventual northern extension to Don Mills. #TTC #TOpoli #ONpoli www.thestar.com/news/gta/dou...
