Really like this new #CSS draft. Finally, as platform owner and #accessibility supporter, we'd have a way to limit animated images (Gifs!) in reduced motion manner www.w3.org/TR/css-image...
Thanks @TheDJ@mastodon.social for the pointer. 👈🏼

this is the very first version of the "Europe" Wikipedia article from 2001 years ago, back when you could just write "some more" when you got sick of typing. thread!
Here's how the Earth article looked in 2001 when Wikipedia was a month old, long before Wikipedians realized their fledgling online encyclopedia would be read and edited by astronauts in space someday
English Wikipedia with the "fake" article "Redesign" (it's actually "Design") in new Vector 2022 skin user-interface
Also a clear callout to more than a handful people with major/bigger roles in joining to make this a reality. 🤝🏻

Grateful to work at the intersection of #technology, #user-experience, and human behavior. And to have bold #design decisions validated with data and empathy.
This work reminded me why I love leading at the intersection of user experience, technology, and responsibility:
⇒ Good design doesn’t call attention to itself – it empowers people to move confidently through complex spaces. 🤍
Designing at this scale is humbling. Every layout shift, navigation tweak, and visual decision carries real weight. Seeing people continue to engage, explore, and learn made the effort worthwhile.
A few things this work milestone reinforced for me though:
✨ Users adapt faster than we often assume
✨ Early friction and short-term drops don’t mean long-term failure
✨ Thoughtful, human-centered design decisions do matter – they can increase meaningful engagement on products used by billions.
While these have been promising results we also need to be honest to ourselves about how rapidly changing our World is; and how much the rise of AI tools is currently showing us the rising importance of exploring new paths of user engagement.
The research showed that average hourly pageviews rose 1.25% YoY and a jump of ~1.06 million monthly internal link clicks. ↗️
Working on Wikipedia’s redesign project, which resulted in its Vector 2022 skin, meant making decisions that would shape and still are shaping how people explore and trust knowledge at a global scale. It was a long-term stewardship effort, balancing progress with responsibility.
One of my professional highlights of 2025 was reading new independent research on a #design change that touched millions of people every day, where I was an early lead contributor. It looked at how #Wikipedia changed user engagement after its biggest #redesign in over 10 years. (1/5)

#CSS Grid Lanes, a much nicer and simpler approachable standard for #masonry layouts. Well done, everyone involved webkit.org/blog/17660/i... #gridlanesftw

On the one hand Space Force, but please all in Times New Roman! Which itself overtook Courier New as default font just in 2004(!), a historic decision for pursuing tradition of ~0.39 light-days length in Voyager I distance from Earth.
Looks like a good plan to me. Agree with Tzitzikostas on “High-speed rail is not just about cutting travel times - it is about uniting Europeans, strengthening our economy, and leading the global race for sustainable transport…” transport.ec.europa.eu/news-events/...

As highlighted in recent Greenpeace reports, traveling by train within Europe is twice as expensive as flying and up to 26 times on certain specific routes – an unfair imbalance that undermines climate goals. greenpeace.at/uploads/2023... #mobility #sustainability

⚠️ Every year more than 1 billion pounds of pesticides are used in the United States. One-quarter of that total are so dangerous they've been banned in many other countries.
Tell the EPA it's time to join other countries and ban the use of pesticides that are too dangerous. ⬇️

Wish you many more decades of successfully fighting for our digital #freedom on the common frontier!
