Real talk, 10 years ago, I didn't even know lettering was a job (and an artform), let alone how important good lettering is in comics.
Lettering is one of those aspects of localization that is easy to forget about if it's good, but bad lettering can completely ruin your immersion.
A bunch of artists will lose work, the flow and immersion for the reader is ruined, the mangaka's vision is butchered...and they'll probably raise the price on consumers anyway.

I feel like with stories like these there's always a level of, okay how much nationalism are they going to put in it lol. With a premise about reunifying a divided Japan. All I can say at the moment is I hope they don't but can see it going that way potentially.
Mhmm. I know it would be a pain to do otherwise but the characters code switching from "standard" Japanese to kansaiben is just one of those things the translation expects you to intuit too, it's a bit of a shame.
This is to say nothing of the direction, storyboarding, visual design, layouts, and character design, which are all pushing the envelope and creatively satisfying. It's the kind of unique anime I've been yearning for!
despite Amazon I think this show with its amount of on screen text (which isn't even terribly too high by anime standards!!!) makes it a very bad fit for a streaming platform that can only display two lines of subtitles at once. The content shines through but the subtitles are nigh unwatchable

Nippon Sangoku is an anime about a redditor using Sun Tzu quotes to own you in the marketplace of ideas so he can apply his agriculture hyperfixation to military power in a post apoc Japanese romance of the three kingdoms and it fucking rocks

I have no qualms about using my retouching skills on pen and paper manga, but the proliferation of manga made in clip studio has turned things into a bit of a free for all and we're still operating on the old rules.
