Could high gasoline prices lead to an EV sales surge? The reaction is likely to be muted because of recent policy changes and a lack of budget-friendly options, as I write here: insideclimatenews.org/news/1604202...
In a first last month, renewables supplied more power to the U.S. than natural gas, a milestone in the shift to clean energy.
Graph showing Arizona cooling degree days in March from 1895 to 2026. 2026 is much higher than any other year. Graphic is produced by NOAA/NCEI.
As unseasonable heatwaves arrive earlier and earlier in the year, the length of the air conditioning season for energy demand will also grow. Check out March 2026 cooling degree days compared to the historical record for Arizona.

Powerful @60minutes.bsky.social segment on Leo's Church and the fight to help immigrants and stop war. Impressive, moving and a significant call to action.
My latest column at @quittingcarbon.bsky.social: With the global economy upended by Donald Trump’s war of choice in Iran, political leaders and households are seeking the security and certainty offered by clean energy technologies: www.quittingcarbonmedia.com/trumps-iran-... 🔌💡
Strong but fair and collaborative. This is the way.

The President of the United States is threatening to commit war crimes and wipe out a "whole civilization" — all because he started a disastrous war of his own making and had no plan and no strategy for how to end it.
This is abhorrent, and the American people do not support this.
How is it possible that he can still shock me so deeply?
Yup. With Klopp's team.
Liverpool actually has tremendous talent on this squad. Arne Slot is getting nothing from this group. He's just not a fit for #LFC - tactically or emotionally (which matters greatly in Merseyside). They need to make a change. #ynwa
Good news for Westchester. Tours of the Tarrytown Lighthouse in Sleepy Hollow are returning this April.
This is one of our County’s most unique and historic landmarks, and I’m glad we’re able to reopen it to the public after completing repairs and strengthening security.

"The most fossil fuel-friendly government in recent U.S. history has shown us all just how risky reliance on oil and gas can be — and taught the world that true energy security lies in accelerating toward a cleaner, electrified future," writes @jmingle.bsky.social: www.nytimes.com/2026/04/01/o... 🔌💡
Chart from gridstatus.io showing CAISO fuel mix on March 29. At around 7 pm, battery storage (purple) makes up by far the largest share of the state's power — more than 12 GW or 43%, almost double the share of the next largest at that time, natural gas.
Chart from gridstatus.io showing ERCOT fuel mix on March 28. In the morning and evening hours, battery storage (purple) makes up a significant share of the state's power, peaking at 8 GW around 8 pm.
Kind of incredible how far ahead of the rest of the country California and Texas are on battery storage. CA hit 12 GW of storage on the grid at one point this weekend (42% of load); Texas 8 GW (16%).
New York and all of the other ISOs/RTOs are functionally at zero.
Very powerful blog by former NYSERDA staffer Jamie Dickerson. He describes the hard work he, I, and many, many others did on the NY Climate Law, and the need to now show courage and push ahead. @jamiedickerson.bsky.social
“New York cannot keep walking itself up to the start line with a solid plan, only to back out of the race at the last minute.”

One of the great policy wins of our time. Undisputed at this point.
"Britain's wind farms produced enough electricity to power over 23 million homes yesterday, setting a new maximum generation record that helped squeeze reliance on gas generation at a time when fossil gas prices are continuing to climb." www.businessgreen.com/news/4527607... via Michael Holder 🔌💡
🚨 It’s official: 2026 had the lowest annual maximum Arctic sea ice extent on record - essentially tied with last year’s record low.
Climate change is reshaping the Arctic, and it's all throughout the year.

Democrats not in office. Honestly, that's the reason.
