This perception that by having an FPGA in the mix, we have a right to expect total accuracy and an authentic user experience is batshit. 🤪

In some territories, the ZD-915 desoldering station is sold as the Clogmaster Pro.

Okay, so I made that up. But it wouldn't be inaccurate.

Might he now have (finally) pressed the "fake news" button once too often?

Some of the early Ocean games were great though. The Chinese Juggler, Hunchback, I even had a soft spot for Mr. Wimpy. Not to mention the Denton Designs stuff, e.g. Frankie Goes to Hollywood is a masterpiece.

What was the marketing rationale behind "VIDEO SUPERGAME 64"? This was the box that the C64G came in. Did Aldi design this themselves, not knowing what the Commodore 64 was? 😆

E-mails on Outlook, from Teams saying I have unread messages, in addition to the 200 unread e-mails I already had.

Looking at this on a Monday morning makes me wonder, would I prefer another 20 years of this, or to not actually live to retirement age? 🤔

Is there a name for that feeling when you're working so goddamn hard that it's eroding your mental health in real time, while someone in your team with the same role and job grade is like "nothing from my end" every day?

Asking for a friend.

I forget which game it is, but I'm sure there was an old sports sim that would report a false start with the on-screen message "Gone too soon".

Sad news indeed. Double Dragon was a phenomenon in the arcades.

That's encouraging to hear. We have solar at home, generated almost 40 kWh yesterday. But we can't afford a new car right now, so we're stuck with a diesel. 🤦‍♂️

Prohibitively high purchase price for EVs and range anxiety are two reasons.

Her point was that nothing happens in Animal Crossing, no levels, no boss battles, they just wander round planting trees and buying hats.

I was thinking the same myself to be fair, but I played through The Last Ninja again this weekend, so the hypocrisy would have been visible from space. 😄

But the notion that games somehow become obsolete (and deemed unworthy of our attention) after a certain amount of time as bafflingly rife, as you pointed out. You like 8-bit games, to some you're "stuck in the past" and should "grow up". You like 60s music or 70s films, nobody bats an eyelid.

If I framed this like it was malicious, that's my fault. Animal Crossing has no specific objective i.e. 'no point' and both our kids have spent entire weekends playing it. Neither of us mind, although we don't necessarily see the appeal. They have lots of other games but they keep coming back.

My wife to my 11 year-old daughter: You're playing Animal Crossing again? You've been playing that since you were in Year 2. What's the point in playing the same game over and over for half of your life?

I will have a .G64 image of the original release. Cracked versions sometimes got broken. Not always, sometimes they got fixed. 😃

Is it possible that the game loop was slowed down to run at 'normal' speed on NTSC machines?

If you're on the fence about getting one of these, don't be. I absolutely love mine. A thing of beauty it is.

You know that old trope about the Apollo missions being driven by pocket calculator technology? Imagine the price-gouging software vendors of today force-obsoleting an entire f@!#ing rocket. 😄

• Struggling to stay relevant on social media?
• Have strong opinions and a bad case of main character syndrome?
• Want to inflate your engagement stats by posting about hot-button issues?
• Have no moral compass whatsoever?

Then you might benefit from transitioning to a right-wing nutjob account.

Built the latest version of SIDKick Pico from scratch. This is the version with the DAC.

Unlike my build last year with no experience of soldering QFNs, these worked first time.

I have a V4. Works fine so I don't think I need to upgrade, unless there's a new must-have feature I didn't know about.

It Takes Two is Dark.. (Cutie the Elephant Death Scene) YouTube video by Its Shatter

Been playing It Takes Two with my youngest over the last couple of weekends. The scene where you have to chase down and dismember Cutie the Elephant absolutely did me in. 💀

Thanks Paul. I had heard that, but once I got it working I didn't like the high travel myself.

Donation made. Better late than never, eh? 😅

It sold for £82, which is a fair price so I'm really happy with that. Buyer has paid, as soon as eBay release the funds I will be donating them to BHF.

Thank you everyone who reposted, commented or simply followed along with my repair threads.
