The cynic in me says that the government petitions website was set up purely to make people think they were making some sort of small difference, thereby distracting them from doing anything meaningful.

Why I went to Moscow

1/ This Yanis Varoufakis screed made me so angry the only way I can salvage my day is to go through it line by line as catharsis.

You are welcome to come on the journey toward my aneurism with me.

An angry h/t to @sianushka.bsky.social for bringing this into my life.

This is the ultimate test for a constitutional order.

Either constitutional mechanisms are used to check and balance this, and remove him from office, or they are not.

For there can be no greater test for any constitution.

Judas Iscariot was paid 30 pieces of silver for turning Jesus Christ in to the Roman authorities. But he made nearly 10 times that amount by placing a Polymarket bet accurately predicting the day of Christ’s death.

"AI isn't going to go away" dipshit asbestos didn't 'go away' either but we made a choice to stop using the shit because of the harm it did and it's easier to get rid of AI than asbestos.

"High bills, impossible debts, filthy rivers, minimal investment and no resilience: that is the gift of privatisation...as we now discover in the case of Thames Water, it becomes our problem."

Thames Water should be in public hands. If you agree, sign our petition:

The Bank of England has only put non royals on bank notes since 1970.

Farage and Co. losing their minds over a relatively modern tradition.

Not getting my hopes up about the hysterical thing happening; while they’re certainly bad enough to go down, it looks like Wet Spam have a more difficult run in.

Having said that, do we want the Scousers to pummel them next week or might that mean they dump Tudor who is doing such great work?

If things get that bad, I suspect their nuclear option to save the institution would be Charles taking ultimate responsibility and abdicating, partly on those grounds plus ill health and hoping that Billy Idle steadies the ship.

I hope that doesn’t work, but we might get to see.

WD and Seagate confirm: Hard drives for 2026 sold out Hyperscalers are tearing hard drives out of the hands of manufacturers. Prices are therefore also rising for SSDs.

I saw a conspiracy theory yesterday that the goal is to eliminate all local data storage and push everything into the corporate cloud where it will be scraped to train A.I. (and exploit us)

And I'm having a difficult time dismissing it

Someone asked me if the 97 years between the two Mansfield games is the longest period between two games for Arsenal playing an opponent in a competitive 1st team game.
The answer is no. There were 102 years between Arsenal playing Lincoln in Division 2 (6 March 1915) and the FA Cup (11 March 2017)

Some PR advice for the Andrew-stricken royals – try something that look less like a $12m cover-up | Marina Hyde A big loan to keep the case out of court doesn’t quite add up to ‘thoughts and prayers to the victims of Jeffrey Epstein’. Working with the police might be a start, says Guardian columnist Marina Hyde

read online that someone set-up a premium rate phone number where callers get charged $3.99/ min. then they posted flyers in their neighborhood that said "call this number to report illegal aliens," but the number just puts them on hold with music. so far, they've made $17,000

There’s one guy in the Epstein files who isn’t talked about enough…

Alex Acosta was the U.S. Attorney who gave Epstein that sweetheart deal. It allowed Epstein to avoid federal prosecution for sex trafficking and abuse of minors.

He served only 13 months in county jail with work release.

Russia says President Putin has been invited to join Trump’s Board of Peace for Gaza.

Astonishing to invite one of history’s most egregious warmongers on to a peace board. The international rules are already in the bin.

The UK was better off in the EU and Europe was better off with the UK in it.

All of this Trump driven chaos underlines that and you can practically hear Putin rubbing his hands in Moscow.

WE have deliberately weakened ourselves, our security and our region for absolutely no good purpose at all.

I’ve been stalwart backer of transatlantic alliance all my life. I understand why Europeans have so far trod softly/tried to keep Trump onside. But, there comes a time when you have to face reality. The US is no longer our ally. Its defense guarantee is worthless. Time to kick ass back🧵
