Night! 🥰
Happy couple-days-post-birthday! 🥳🎉
Look on the bright side: at least you won't have to deal with congestion 😁
Don't worry: after cutting a lot of corners, it's kinda bad there too 💀
Oh, that's interesting! 😮
That's fair. Although it also depends on whether your network provider doesn't suck. Otherwise, it needs to employ an active bridge between your device and your VPS 😵💫
(I hate CGNAT 😭)
I don't think that's possible with Tailscale, as (AFAIK) it doesn't let ports be exposed outside the local network it creates 😔
Also, I noticed something: With your setup, it's 4 or 5 hops, not 3: Your device → Tailscale → your VPS → Proton's Secure Core → Proton's destination → your destination 😅
I might try using an old laptop with Tailscale to expose it to the open web in the future, though — I just need to fix the laptop first, which will require a lot of energy that I'm currently lacking 🥲
Oh, that's fair enough. It's similar to my original setup, where I used to redirect all non-local traffic through a WireGuard VPN using simple iptables, not Tailscale. However, I had to abandon it because the VPSes I could afford were usually based in Europe, which resulted in high latency 🥲
I think I take for granted the fact that other people grew up with Pingu
Wait, you can do that without a VPS or an always-on computer? That was always what prevented me from using it, as you can't use more than one VPN on Android 😓
Have you evaluated using a patch like Revanced for the app? I don't use Instagram, but that's what I do for YouTube and Reddit, and it works really well 🙂
No, that's actually a good question!
When Google announced that they were switching Chrome OS over to an Android base, it was clear that Chrome OS Flex would die due to the garbage Android kernel. While Google claimed this is not their intention, they're not working towards not letting this happen 😐
In my country, the rationale was that it saved energy—after all, the name literally means ‘daylight saving time’. However, I'd argue that the energy savings were negligible compared to the toll it takes on people's health by disrupting their circadian rhythms.
Indeed! Luckily, my country got rid of them a few years ago, but having to wake up an hour earlier for school was absolute torture 😖
An auto-generated “My Anime Aura” graphic from the service Komiko titled “Cult Classic Connoisseur.” It displays a 3×3 grid of anime posters in the following order: Bloom Into You, Birdy the Mighty: Decode, Land of the Lustrous, The Demon Girl Next Door, HINAMATSURI, Little Witch Academia (TV), Gatchaman Crowds, Arpeggio of Blue Steel, and Plastic Memories. Below the grid is a chibi fox girl next to pink text reading “+68,000 Aura”. The description says: “You are the patron saint of cult hits and underrated existential blues. +15000 aura for the existential dread aesthetic. +8000 aura for the wholesome chaos balance. -5000 aura for the Plastic Memories trauma bait. Stop gatekeeping your taste and touch some grass bestie.”
A similar “My Anime Aura” graphic from Komiko, this one titled “Aesthetic Chaos Enjoyer.” It features the exact same nine anime posters as the previous image, but in reverse order, starting with Plastic Memories and ending with Bloom Into You. The bottom section features the same chibi fox girl and “+68,000 Aura” score, but the text below reads: “You are an internet-savant who heals their soul with refined chaos. +15000 aura for that Land of the Lustrous taste. -2000 aura for the Plastic Memories emotional trauma. +8000 aura for the Birdy the Mighty deep cut. Cringe is dead, and your vibe is immaculate, bestie.”
I experimented with this a little and noticed that everything but the score seems to be at least a bit random 😅
I'd assume reading it is much better, as the anime feels incomplete, and I doubt it will ever get a second season 🥲
Not exactly, it was a terrible idea due to manual interventions and the risk of partial updates 😅
However, even with such a massive level of recklessness, it just never broke while in my hands. It's way more solid than what people think.
Meanwhile, I had a Debian install give up on me once 💀
Meanwhile, when I used Arch I had a hook to run `pacman -Syu` during shutdown 💀
In the years I used it, it just never broke in my hands 😅
Same! I only realise I'm really hungry when I'm so dizzy that I can't focus properly on the screen 😅
I'm doing well today, nothing bad happened for once 😅
What about y'all? 😊
Morning! 😊
Morning! 😊
Night! 😊
Meme: The album cover for DJ Khaled's “Suffering from Success”. The image is in dramatic greyscale, but making the gold jewellery and chains stand out in vivid colour. Khaled rests his head in his hand, looking profoundly distressed against a backdrop of stormy clouds and faint mountains. At the bottom, “DJ Khaled” is written in white, while the album title appears in bold gold letters. A “Parental Advisory: Explicit Content” label in the bottom right corner is visible.
😆😅
I know this list was originally called “techno-pessimists” and its description was something like “people who hate people who like crypto/AI/[other stuff I can't remember]”.
I know because I've been on it for a long time, and I don't even know why, as I've never said anything about crypto or AI 💀
I like it, too. In fact, I also enjoy the sensation of a dental drill, particularly when I'm having my teeth scaled 😅
I also wouldn't survive with an immutable distro. I can only handle NixOS because the system is essentially built by the user — and even then, it still sucks at times 😵💫
I tried CachyOS for a day, but the GTK4 updater having to call another GUI updater in a KDE system annoyed me enough to leave 💀
