I was pondering this! I shouldโve tracked it over the years, but I think itโs probably the biggest ever.

If you've ever wondered why Danny Griffin is good, watch him:
- dish to a defender and continue his run upfield to draw a No. 6
- make himself available for a bounce pass, then continue the run
- linger around the box to force the defense deep and open a shooting lane
Very few USL CMs doing this!
extremely funny reaction to a light tap here
Moment of stillness, and weโre off.
Birmingham Legion 0-0 Pittsburgh Riverhounds
No, there was a goal after like seven seconds in 2022.
Fort Wayne's on the board with their first League One win, courtesy of a 1st minute goal and 90-plus minutes of excellent defending. Really well-taken goal from rookie midfielder Taig Healy to make it happen off a spirited bit of counterpressure.
Last week, I wrote about Boise's need to be a bit more decisive after breaking lines, and this is exactly what I mean. As soon as Blake Bodily receives up the left, he's driving inside and trying to find a killer pass. This is the kind of team play that Boise is striving for.
A lot to pick apart for Richmond as they stay winless in the league, but a complete lack of understanding between the defensive and midfield lines is a big deal.
You see it here: both No. 6s track to the same space, no one's in position to claim a clearance, and Spokane gets a second bite to score.
What happened in the #GainbridgeSuperLeague on Saturday?
Baylee DeSmit scored a pair of goals as @sportingjax.bsky.social extended its lead at the top of the standings with a 4-1 victory against Fort Lauderdale United FC.

Sharp work on the counter for Las Vegas tonight, doing well to control the midfield and create short-field breaks for themselves. Fun seeing this team come together as they get healthier and healthier.
Refreshing composure from Phoenix so far tonight. They're communicating well in their 4-1-3-2ish press, and they aren't rushing things on the ball. Bright start for a team that's tended to give up early goals in 2026.
In continuing "Miami is fun again" territory, I love when this team pushes the pace. Alessandro Milesi is so active up the left, Mason Tunbridge's vision has translated to USLC wonderfully, and Jurgen Locadia still has something in the tank up top.

Shutdown defensive performance from RIFC thus far, and it's all about plays like this: you force the ball wide, trap at the sideline, and pour forward with numbers. Terrific finish from Aldair Sanchez to cap this move.
El Paso absolutely having their way against Hartford tonight. Their combination play up the wings has been automatic, and Hartford can't work through the press at all.
Here, all that comes together to tee up a banging goal from Eric Calvillo.
There will not be a better assist in Week 6 than this pass from Cam Lindley into Bruno Rendon.
Big start for Brooklyn FC's Philadelphia Union loanee contingent, with CJ Olney carrying the ball into the attacking zone and Markus Anderson notching the go-ahead assist against Charleston.
The "Noble Okello is a hold-up No. 9" thing is my favorite positional experiment in the league right now, and you see how difficult it is for defenses to stop him and Indy here.
Great recovery from Ryuga Nakamura to make the stop for Monterey in the clip.
And the Omaha response - let Guediri (your LB) and Cabral (CM) trade places to break the man-marking scheme - is every bit as good.
You see that here, where the interchange opens a huge lane in the central midfield.
For a Madison team that finished with League One's least attacking-half recoveries last season, this kind of sequence is really good to see. It's all about that pressure from Machasen and Gebhard up the middle to generate a break with space.
They should adopt the yeehaw logo for real
BREAKING: Hodges Household has a roster addition coming mid-October.
Cannot wait for our Rainbow Baby to be the Sunshine in our lives. See you soon, Little Guy.
And Dayes has a hockey assist now, setting up a peach of a goal from Tola Showunmi with a long pass into the attacking third. Terrific prospect, terrific (and classic) Louisville goal.
We've featured Dayes regularly in the weekly #USL Young Player Spotlight piece this season, he's been that consistent.
But don't take my word for it, he's also in @usltactics.com's early-season review of young talent for @backheeled.com.
