Carried him home, and he was fine, and never freaked out like that again. Still have a couple of scars on my arm. He passed away last year, and the scars make me smile each time I see them - and make me miss him too.

But one day after he had just started leash walking, and was still getting adjusted to not being a feral, a motorcycle came by - I think one of the abusers actually, he freaked, I picked him up, and he shredded my arm. Looked like a road map had been drawn in blood.

Rescued a feral 10 years ago. He picked up on the leash very fast. He had been living near people with motorcycles and they apparently were always throwing things at him. So, anytime he heard a motorcycle, he'd freak out. Had to be ready to pick him up and calm him. Otherwise he loved leash walking.

Yeah, that's like when Jehova's Witness people show up. By the time I finish with them, they can't leave fast enough. Strangely enough the same ones never show up again 🤔

You talking private or gov? And if nuke, what kind, radioisotope generator or reactor? Cool idea though, I agree. And there is also a lot of other very good science you could do with it. Would love to see something like this done or at least tried.

Not the greatest situation, but maybe the apathetic will see what their non-action led to and do something now. Not sure what hope for the under educated brain washed (or actively enthusiastic) supporters of this mess. But have to hold onto hope more good than evil (stupid evil) here.

I sincerely hope it's more accurate that not primarily composed, just they're just more effectively manipulated/amplified by those who want a authoritarian, white supremist, misogynist fundamentalist nation focused on making the rich richer. And as many or more are (hoping were) just apathetic.

Not arguing the facts at all. But there were opportunities we squandered. There were still chances to affect change. The question I have now is how the non autocratic, non dictatorial world will act when another opportunity arises. And I hope we don't find a way to screw up Hungary.

There should be a special place in hell for someone who does that with malice. And if there is no afterlife, may they experience the last seconds of their life (and to them will hopefully last an eternity to them) as being in a fiery hell. Anyone who abuses, hurts an animal deserves that at least.

But again, I am not saying I could tell the future back then. So maybe it is 20/20 hindsight stuff now. Regardless, it didn't turn out good. And regardless of anything else about Ukraine, I wouldn't have given up the nukes unless I was offered NATO membership.

I will say I didn't mean it literally of course. And yes, the Russians themselves don't have clean hands. But at least in my opinion, the west could have done a lot more with a much better outcome. This is from being involved to some degree, academic study and conversations with Russians since 2010.

So we wind up with Putin. The more open economic system in China is opening up opportunities (slowly) for change - though certain "world powers" are screwing things up and even making China look like the stability the world needs.

It is possible, just no one recipe. Too many ppl don't get that.

I would argue it is not hopeless, but the process to achieve it and has to be different. The western world, I believe, had a chance to help that Russia change after the collapse of the USSR. But too many people wanted to pull a treaty of Versailles on Russia.

First thing we did when we moved to our house was screen in the deck for our kitties. And some of ours definitely love leash walking. If you leash walk, make sure the vet knows as if they think they are indoor only, they make not give a vaccine they do need even if only outside on a leash.

I totally agree with you. Some people just focus on specific aspects or use relative arguments about "then". But they should still see and agree we have to learn from the past and be better. I can do nothing about what happened then, but I can do everything possible to make things right today.

We need to be a productive part of the world. We do not need to be the bully/enforcer. We need to be a positive, stabilizing influence. Some say we were, some say we never were. We definitely aren't now. But we can become (or regain) that. And we have to, plus make sure this can never happen again.

I cannot understand how any father of a daughter could be for oppressing women's rights. We should all be equal and given every opportunity to succeed. Misogyny, overt or subtle, is simply wrong and detrimental to society. Any "man" who thinks women are less, is a thing to be purged from society.

And when "this" has happened to you personally, you just understand, regardless of the specifics.

People have to be held accountable for their illegal actions. This has to be wrong. And if it is not for some stupid reason, we have to make it illegal. We will have the opportunity. We can't waste it.

I wish I still had my old computers from so many years ago. Z80 chiclet, Vic-20, TRS-80, Apple IIe, even an Cosmac Elf. Would love to be able to work with them now. I'm jealous 🙂.

There is absolutely no rational reason the US is not following the same path - with a federal emphasis and focus. Oh right, I did say no rational reason. That explains it. Or may no non-evil reason is better.

This hasn't been a real capitalistic society for a while. This is oligarchic/crony capitalism. Even the "father" of capitalism, Adam Smith, would be aghast at the way things are now. And yes, we definitely do deserve better than this.
