Dbacks are going to make life tough on the Dodgers and Padres this season. Burnes, Zac Gallen, Eduardo Rodriguez, Brandon Pfaadt and Merrill Kelly is a nice rotation. Jordan Montgomery is also still in Arizona, though he could still be traded.

So Burnes doesn’t match Stephen Strasburg’s $245 million deal, but his $35 million AAV is the same. It’s tied for the sixth-largest AAV ever for a starting pitcher (behind Scherzer, Verlander, Wheeler, deGrom and Cole).

Burnes lives in Scottsdale, so settling into his new surroundings won’t be much of an issue.

Corbin Burnes has agreed to a six-year, $210 million deal with the D-backs, per source. Deal includes an opt-out clause after 2026. @JonHeyman was on it.
