I know. I still am surprised at the audacity. I guess I’m not numb to it yet.

He is an evil person. I don’t understand how someone can be so cruel.

Just started this Laura Kinsale last night. Historical romance is my comfort. And I ordered these other used books on Pango recently because I LOVE the covers—yes, I absolutely judge a book by its cover.

I think ā€œWhy?ā€ has been the pervasive question from me throughout the year. Literally nothing since January makes any sense.

I just don’t understand why he is doing this.

ALSO, I have freaking jury duty in December for district court! Worst year ever. Something has happened literally every month. I hate it here.

Good morning and happy Saturday to everyone except that fat, lying, child-raping, twice impeached, porn star raw-dogging, Russia-colluding, insurrection-inciting, treasonous, classified documents-stealing felonious, dictator-loving, Constitution-defying MOTHERFUCKER, but I repeat myself.

Guys, my husband recently became a ā€œFriendā€ and our TV is literally on RiffTrax all day, every day because of the live feature. I both love and hate you. If I have to see Birdemic ONE MO TIME, ISTG.

Demolishing the East Wing of the White House before finalizing plans for what will be built above its ruins is a near-perfect metaphor for Trump's approach to economic policy. The only difference is the wrecking crew doesn’t claim the rubble is evidence of unprecedented growth.

If anyone needs an academic, scientific, or technical editor for one-off projects ATM, my calendar is free. I need to work on my freelance ā€œscaling.ā€ I am setting up a website for my cousin who is opening her own private medical practice. If you wanna connect on LinkedIn, send me a DM.

So I’m struggling even finding freelance and contract work. I have a recruiter who put in an application for me earlier this week so šŸ¤žšŸ» they at least want to interview me. My severance runs out in January and my husband is disabled and we wrecked my car in October. Y’all. I can’t take much more.

I have over 18 YOE with no past job hopping, a BA and an MA, have had a few interviews with state agencies who GHOSTED me after the interview and didn’t even have the decency to send me an email. I had a fed contractor job in my grasp—then the shutdown happened & they ended up cancelling position.

Oh, hey, Bluesky. I have been hanging over on Threads because it’s freaking hilarious and there’s always something unhinged going on. Sometimes Bluesky depresses me because it’s all political truth and it solidifies what horrifying times we are in. So, hiiiii, again.

An update… still job hunting 😭

America by Design Fail Trump fired the best designers in the Federal Government

Not sure how I missed all this but I read this out loud to my husband, then went over to the .gov site. Omg. It’s so, so bad. So many ellipses. And don’t get me wrong, I love a good ellipses but NOT ON A PROFESSIONAL WEBSITE. Fuck their propaganda!

How does someone just pivot mid-career? Of anyone knows of any writer/editor, communications, or content management positions that are remote, hit up my DMs. I know the market is saturated and AI is taking over some of these jobs, but I mean, I gotta eat.

I don’t trust that HHS/FDA will do right by us and pay out our annual leave and severance in a reasonable timeframe. I should have 26 weeks of severance but our insurance ends August 26. FDA has been absolutely terrible through this entire process. Heartless. Cruel. Silent. ā¬‡ļø

I’m the earner in my household. I have 20+ years of experience and a master’s degree. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect to not have to get an entry-level position. And this admin has vilified federal employees so much that employers are hesitant to hire us. ā¬‡ļø

Job searching sucks so bad. I don’t know how people do it for over a year. I’ve only been at it for a few months and only a week of that has been serious (since I got RIF’d ā€œofficiallyā€ by HHS). There are state jobs available but all entry-level and I’d take a 25-50% pay cut. ā¬‡ļø
