44 years ago yesterday, my dad-who was my hero—and I got into a canoe accident on the Don River. My dad didn’t make it.

We found a client sleeping on a grate in -12. We gave them food and wrapped their bare feet in a coat. Unsure if they would survive the night, we called 211 to find a safe place for them to sleep.

As many of you know, the St. Stephens-in-the Field encampment was cleared recently. There were very real people living there. People that we served, people that we checked on, people that we cared about.
