Just went to see Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band play New Jersey and Garden State boomers are sooooo pissed. Last week I went to Lady Gaga’s final show of her Mayhem tour in NYC and my ears are ringing harder tonight from people with white hair up way past their bedtime booing ICE and DHS.

I listened to ten Gibbs-related albums while reading the book and writing the piece, and that's maybe half a percent, if that, of his recorded work, never mind various live tapes/YouTubes. All of what I played was interesting to amazing.
Psyched for the appearance (in just a little while). The book continues, and will continue, to rattle around my brain.

"How Black Music Took Over the World" connects an enormous number of dots—sometimes literally, as when Gibbs utilizes clocklike circular figures to denote the many rhythmic workings under discussion.
The Infowars news is funny, yes. But more importantly, it is an outright rebuke of Alex Jones' evil.
It's testament to the strength and resilience of the Sandy Hook families who survived this bullshit for more than a decade as well as the Onion, which didn't give up on this for the last 18 months.

Keeping up with Melvin Gibbs's discography is nearly impossible. Thing I learned from @matoswk.bsky.social's interview: Gibbs plays on Arto Lindsay's stellar "Erotic City" cover.
