A photograph of a black ink sketch in a notebook resting on a wooden surface. The drawing depicts a moody forest scene with tall, bare trees and a textured, uneven ground or path, heavily shaded using cross-hatching techniques. To the left of the notebook lie two pens: a black Lyreco pen with a barcode sticker and a grey uni-ball Eye Fine pen.

A black turntable playing a vinyl record with a green Columbia label. Propped up behind the turntable is the album cover, which features a large, bright orange and yellow photograph of a nuclear mushroom cloud. Across the top right of the cover, the word "BASIE" is written in large blue letters. Text along the bottom of the cover reads, "E=MC²=COUNT BASIE ORCHESTRA+NEAL HEFTI ARRANGEMENTS".

I miss the era of YouTube when part of the fun was trying to find “Episode 32 Part 3/3 eng sub”.
A close-up shot of a cassette tape in a clear plastic case standing upright on a light wooden surface. The cover art features a stylized illustration with a light blue background and white clouds filled with a crosshatch pattern. In the top left corner, the text "OBSCURE POWER" is written in a complex, overlapping metallic font. The central image is a drawing of an open padlock; the body of the lock contains a fragmented, cracked landscape and a square spiral shape. In the blurred background, a silver stereo system is visible with "BASS" and "VOLUME" knobs

Very sad to hear of Alister Gentry’s passing. Used to love his vitriolic musings on the art world and navigating it.
Are we now only watching ourselves listen or just listening?

A page of musical staff paper where traditional musical notation has been replaced by scattered, abstract black ink marks, dots, and erratic dashes, resembling an unreadable, avant-garde graphic score.

A close-up, black-and-white ink sketch of a tree trunk. The drawing uses dense, wavy, and flowing vertical lines to illustrate the rough texture of the bark. Near the center is a prominent, irregularly shaped tree knot or scar, detailed with concentric, wavy rings.

Can’t get over how the singer/bassist from Carcass bears a closer resemblance to Morrissey now.
A close-up view of a white sheet of manuscript paper with standard five-line musical staves. Instead of traditional musical notation, the staves are filled with random, chaotic black scribbles, dots, dashes, and abstract curved lines scattered across the page.

Sunday thought, is the idea of prioritising physical media over streaming/digital just simply a variant of how the consumer is required to be the enforcer and practitioner of ethics?
A black-and-white, hand-drawn illustration with a dark, moody atmosphere. In the foreground, a large, weathered monolith or stone structure leans heavily to the left, rendered with dense, vertical hatch marks that suggest a rough, craggy texture. To its right, skeletal, branch-like forms reach upward and outward, resembling a withered hand or a dead tree. The background consists of a deep black sky punctuated by stark white, cloud-like shapes that appear like jagged lightning or rolling mist. The ground is a mass of dark, horizontal scribbles, creating a sense of unstable or turbulent terrain. The overall style is raw and somber, utilizing heavy line work and negative space to create a haunting, gothic aesthetic.

La Monte Young - Poem for Chairs, Tables, Benches, Etc. (1960)
A black ink drawing on cream-colored paper depicting a jagged, organic form that resembles a thick section of tree bark. The shape is roughly H-shaped or butterfly-shaped, composed of vertical, overlapping plates with sharp, serrated edges. The artist uses dense hatching, stippling, and heavy black linework to create deep furrows and a rough, weathered texture. The bottom edges of the form are pointed and uneven, suggesting a fragment of a gnarled, ancient tree trunk.

Me, an intellectual: listening to a warped cassette tape in a 1998 Honda Civic is better
A photograph taken from a slightly low angle shows a cassette tape case standing upright on a light-colored wooden shelf. The cassette's cover art features a glowing, retro-futuristic, diamond-shaped geometric structure with multiple facets, emitting a soft purple and white light against a dark background. Behind the cassette, the silver faceplate of a vintage-style stereo system is visible, featuring various knobs labeled "BASS" and "TREBLE," along with a large central volume dial. To the left of the cassette, a few other thin objects, possibly more tapes or records, are partially visible in the shadows. The lighting is warm and indoor, creating a nostalgic atmosphere

The Night Monitor - Close Encounters of the Pennine Kind (2023, Fonolith)
A black and white ink drawing in a spiral-bound sketchbook showing the thick base of a tree trunk and its roots spreading downwards. The drawing uses dense, aggressive hatching and solid black patches to create deep shadows and a rough, heavily textured appearance.
A black and white ink drawing in a spiral-bound sketchbook depicting the lower trunk and roots of a tree. The drawing uses varied densities of hatched lines to render the twisting, gnarled texture of the bark and the sprawling roots against the white background of the page.
There's pinch harmonics but I'm yet to see someone do such techniques on a harmonica.

A top-down view of an open spiral-bound sketchpad resting on a dark, textured surface. The page features a surreal, abstract black ink drawing of organic, floating shapes with long, spindly tendrils and densely cross-hatched areas. These shapes hover above a minimalist landscape of low hills and a flat foreground. The drawing is signed 'P.B '26' in the bottom right corner. Lying to the right of the sketchpad are two pens: a clear-barreled black gel pen and a grey fineliner.
