The people who play @catfishing.net are too smart. I'll get an answer right and feel like I'm a genius knowing some deep cut and then I see that >75% of everybody else knew the answer too

When I started doing more agentic coding a month ago, it felt good to be able to throw it at the stuff I didn't want to do myself. But as time goes on I feel like the bar for what I don't want to do is getting lower. I just feel way less interested in the things I used to love doing

I'm very biased as a Pistons fan but watching a basketball team play good defense is honestly one of the most beautiful parts of the game. Ausar Thompson highlights are so fun to watch

I guess boycotting Harry Potter feels pretty trivial to me, because I'm an adult. if someone told me I shouldn't eat Gerber's baby food, I'd be like, that is no problem. I'm way ahead of you

Make sure to rotate your pronouns periodically, so that if your gender becomes compromised, attackers can only access it for a short period of time.

It is mind boggling to me how many apps all agree that markdown syntax is nice, but they all have their own slightly different proprietary versions of what subset of the syntax is supported and how they handle it. Just let me write my markdown!

Just saw an electric car plugged into a cord that they were running through their window from an outlet inside the house. I mean I guess you can do that?

Just got my first fully-automated recruiter email from an AI agent. The future sucks so much

On the left, is some normal CSS with a white box under, labelled "DLSS 5 Off"

On the right is some Tailwind slop, attached to a div with an onClick event which triggers an alert saying "Built with Claude".

Under that, a white box which has a green line under it, captioned "DLSS 5 On"

My dog Harrison lying on a fluffy blanket in his favorite chair by the living room window. He is looking up at me like he thinks he's going to get something. He is a coonhound/terrier mix we got from a rescue, a very unique looking dog. He has a primarily white body with lots of little black spots, and his head is primarily black with brown markings on his eyebrows and cheeks. At 35 pounds, he's a little guy with a sleek skinny body and long skinny legs which allow him to run very fast despite being 10 years old. He loves going on walks more than anything on earth, as long as it's not raining.

My dog's name is Harrison and Hair Is On his entire body... Nominative determinism?

Shout out to the super bowl because I'm just straight up a fan of Bad Bunny now. Efecto and Baile Inolvidable in particular are such good songs even if I don't understand the lyrics

Also, my tip for how to make agentic coding not feel soul-sucking: don't let it write code that you want to write! Especially not HTML and CSS! My favorite use case is throwing together internal tools that make my life easier but that I wouldn't build myself otherwise.

The whole "learn to prompt now or you'll be left behind" thing is so dumb. Prompting is so easy to figure out how to do. I refused to engage deeply with agentic coding until basically this month and have had zero issues figuring out how to use it

Bam Adebayo is the perfect person to have the second-highest scoring game in the history of the NBA. It's unexpected, fun, and I'm just happy for him. This will be a great trivia question someday.

I've been having some success with Claude Code but every time I've seen it try to do any kind of frontend UI work it makes me want to throw up. It has written some of the worst React components I've ever seen.

I went through a big JSDoc phase but now that Node supports type stripping, I'm writing Node code in 100% TypeScript with no build step and it's excellent. I'm still using JSDoc for browser stuff of course, but I can't deny that the JSDoc syntax is nowhere near as nice as the real deal.

Tagged templates in JavaScript are incredibly cool, I recently learned about so many interesting properties of how they work that blew me away. Might be worth a blog post.

Zach Gage rocks. If you're not familiar with Puzzmo yet I would recommend it, they have a great collection of daily puzzles which hit the balance of challenging-yet-accessible really well and have some great UX juice. I'm a big fan of their crosswords.

Super easy and really does taste like cheesecake when done right. I'm not a nutrient tracker type but I imagine it's pretty rich in protein and fiber too lf you care about that

"Blueberry cheesecake yogurt" has become a favorite breakfast staple for me.

1. Mix frozen blueberries, salt, honey, chia seeds, and vanilla extract in a bowl, allow to sit for 20-30 minutes until blueberries are thawed and it's a little syrupy
2. Mix in Greek yogurt
3. Top with granola

Yes, that vibe coded Next.js clone is probably riddled with critical security bugs, but when you think about it that's actually an incredibly accurate recreation of the spirit of Next.js

I just built a quick static landing page for a website by just writing raw HTML and CSS files and it felt so refreshing. It's been so easy to build and iterate on, no frameworks or npm packages!

An optimistic take I have is that the "fiber optic cables" equivalent from the AI crash is not actually going to be the data centers, but the massive explosion of renewable energy production and upgrades to the aging grid which the data centers are forcing

I don't know what it is, but something about switching from Gmail to Proton Mail has made me start doing a much better job of keeping up with my emails. In Gmail I had started really ignoring everything and letting it all slide until I had hundreds of unread emails, but now I'm down to 0 unread

Alright I'm officially on Proton Mail now! Going to try going all in on using my own custom domain email as my new default. In the meantime, I didn't realize how easy it would be to have all of my old Gmail emails get auto-forwarded to Proton, this has all been a pretty painless transition!

Alright I'm getting tired of Google reading all my emails and using them for ad targeting, especially now that they're trying to push unwanted AI email summaries without asking. I think it's time to explore moving off of Gmail.
