Barrington St. has long played an impt. role as one of Halifax’s historic commercial corridors, and for decades its potential to (once again) serve as a vibrant “main street” has been a hot topic. So much so, that "Revitalizing Barrington Street" made it into the Downtown Halifax Vision 2030.

1/3 Since 2015, DHBC has supported local artists through the Gritty to Pretty Placemaking Grant Program, helping transform Downtown Halifax with vibrant, community-driven public art. Last night, we celebrated 10 years of the program at our 10-Year Anniversary event at Canadian Museum of Immigration.

February 17 was Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Day and we celebrated by painting kindness rocks and hiding them all over Downtown Halifax.

Police are assisting Halifax Fire with a structure fire on Duke Street. Duke St. (btw Brunswick & Argyle) is closed. Carmichael St. (btw Brunswick & Argyle) is also closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Police ask the public to avoid the area and take alternate route.
