a strange, dark blur of a photo with swirling black fuzzy shapea and a squiggle in faint red light. nothing is really legible

it influenced a lot of things I loved and watched before it and yet I love how condensed it is and arguably prefer it to some of those later things! helps that the way it looks and sounds is just awesome and catchy

right now, it's been a while since I watched it, but I just think about it a lot. how clean it is as an emotional story, how creative it gets with its stakes and choices. how balanced its tone is, with humor, heart, drama and despair. The reverberations and evolutions of its aesthetics. Seriously

and happily, I do still see a noticeable proportion of people masking in my area and no one really gives me verbal guff for it. But there's so much disappointment in how people handled / handle covid and Idk if I'll ever totally get over it. Including friends & family which is a mindfuck.

it's hard to make sense of because it doesn't really make sense. but this whole era has changed my thoughts and feelings about people and how they act and what their nature is- in a really negative way that I'm still working on.

At least "wear a mask and stop getting sick" is a good sell

I think broadly people choose to look the other way or ignore this because it makes them feel uncomfy, and changing their behavior in a lasting and socially stigmatizing way was a bigger ask than simply ignoring a bit of brain damage or lingering disability

Wild times, and a huge bummer

it's just so weird people would rather get sick and complain and suffer through being sick regularly than mask. Or they don't realize they have a choice and that masks work? I don't want to be judgemental, it's just strange

i usually wear the ear loop kn95s, its really easy to do

16 hours ago 1 0 1 0

and I just don't fully understand how people aren't doing this calculus... like... you can easily wear a mask and easily almost never get sick. I find it a bit weird more people don't take that trade

but, I suppose, social pressures, "inconvenience" of masking, and a sort of giving up occurs

i'm a broken record on this... but I HAVE NOT GOTTEN SICK ONCE in the six years since I started wearing an N95 in public places

I used to get sick! Getting suck fuckin' sucks and is more avoidable than I ever realized before. I really don't give it a second thought anymore, slapping ear loops on

This rather creepy photo is Artemis II’s heat shield underwater, as taken by the U.S. Navy. This is the first photo we have of the heat shield, and upon initial examination it doesn’t seem to have the char loss that Artemis I’s had.

Coachella is trying to wipe all of the footage of The Strokes protest set so I’m gonna post it here. The last images on the screen made me cry.

Basically, this is a way you can make high quality games that seems more sustainable at least from outside-looking-in. Cool!

They should have given Diana pants, though

Rather than games being ongoing service obligations where I hem and haww about committing to a new long term thing, have to keep up with it, etc

I'm sure they also keep their budgets in check. By all appearances they are not shoehorning gen ai in as "cost cutting" (which I'm not even convinced of)

Not the first to say this but I LOVE that Capcom is releasing single player games where you can beat the story in like 8-12 hours and be done, or explore a little side content / ng+ stuff

That's a model of video games that I enjoy and that fits more easily into my life

it's so annoying! and such an incredibly bad user experience for the most basic a/v stuff

i truly don't understand

it kind of seems like eventually things settle and stop resetting as much? but there's no rhyme or reason to it that i can discern and thus, you can't fully trust your OS to simply remember your settings

2 days ago 1 0 0 0

every time i boot i pretty much have to check that the correct audio device is set because seemingly at random it will just decide to change the default device

color profile settings are another thing that reset for no reason

microsoft has more money than god, how are these things not solved?

2 days ago 2 0 2 0

if they're going to "fix Windows" they really need to make it work more consistently with multiple displays and audio outputs (i.e. allow you to actually lock in these settings and not change your devices sporadically on boot)

why is it so bad?? It's bad

I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.

Venting as I learn that the cycling in and out of equipment is sort of a sisyphean neverending thing and all you can do is be a little over-prepared so that you can keep working. But man, this particular machine 😭🫡

~works for like 3 weeks~

rubber ring in pump unloader valve fails. replace ring. unloader valve still leaking, losing pressure. cannot drive equipment.

unloader valve is now on too tight/ is stripped and can no longer be easily removed for repair. Back to the shop.
